That Dennys has always suffered crime inside n outside the restaurant for decades. Late night Patrons would often dine n ditch, stiff waitresses tips, leave the restrooms a nasty mess. When Denny’s had promos as a free breakfast, the parking lot would get filled with broken car window glass. Theft and pandering. Thieves would also target airport rental cars. Call a Cop n maybe they’d show up in 20 to 45 mins… meanwhile the victims become late for work n school. No one helped, so you just don’t go. Over time the employees hired became less n less qualified… or enthusiastic about working there to say the least. Good riddance.

People need adjust their understanding of what crime is because property crime in places like Oakland is actually not crime. Crime is defined by a society having consequences that prevent and deter the crime. Without any consequences towards the crime (that deter or prevent it) then the society does not consider that behavior actual crime.
