Train Yourself to Stop Procrastinating

We're scared to do the work because it's emotionally hard. When we start working we're in this unknown territory and we we're already feeling bad from a long day and when we think about all the work that we have to do we feel start feeling even worse than before. And then we are presented with this thing, that we know will make us feel good so quickly, whether it's playing a game, taking a nap instead of doing work, or even something somewhat productive, like reading a book or cleaning up, that we can't help but give in. It will make us feel good in the short term and that is better then feeling worse to our primitive self.
But there's a way to train yourself to turn off autopilot, you need two things: mindfulness and acceptance. Mindfulness teaches you to recognize when you're in this hell before it gets too painful.
That way you can choose your fate, before it is chosen for you. It's the difference between being dragged into the arena to face a battle to the death and walking into the arena with your head held high. Some people, perhaps, would say that there's little to choose between the two ways, but to me, there's all the difference in the world.
So now you’re meditating and can recognize when you’re procrastinating and on autopilot mode. How do you actually get to work? We’ll it’s the same way you get yourself to do anything else that’s hard, you take a deep breath and jump in. Accept that it feels bad, and don’t resist feeling bad while you take action. It’s like jumping into that cold water, it’s going to be a shock and at first you’ll want to get out, but if you stay in you’ll realize that the water isn’t that bad.
But you also have to remember, this is a war, a battle to the death, between good and evil. Between your two selves, both right in their own minds. It's important to fight, and fight again, and keep fighting, for only then can evil be kept at bay, though never quite eradicated.
