What if luffy had no fruit but instead trained haki early?

You gotta consider that Luffy couldn’t train in the conventional ways because of his rubber body. Now that he would have a somewhat regular texture to his body he would be able to train his body normally

Soul Luffy is fun. It's a fruit that lends itself to chaotic creativity, so I can see him adapting to it so easily

I feel like the quake fruit is being slept on a bit. It’s understandably dangerous but let’s just say he destroys the bar and some people get hurt and he fully understands how dangerous it is and takes it super seriously. Shanks would teach him a little bit. Luffy is very creative and we saw white beard create air quakes etc. so that means you can quake anything not just the islands. Luffy should be able to train rather safely if he directs everything in the air. And he can learn CONDENSED QUAKES. For example: stomping your foot on the ground and having one fissure/line in the ground traveling in a straight line. If he can then train and branch them out like a tree spreading its branches along the ground. Luffy could accurately target foes and environmental surroundings to his will. By opening up any desired crack/fissure in the ground under a target like a sinkhole. Then he can air quake the the inside of the hole and absolutely smash anything. There’s seriously so many ways to go about this. Garp might even teach him a bit too. If Luffy creates air quake fists and continues to be creative and condense his quakes into sharp lines he can be so overpowered. Yeah it’s definitely risky but it is possibly a 1-2 year one piece speedrun for Luffy with the tremor fruit.

I think kid Luffy with the quake fruit would basically be doing attacks like the Hasshoken fighting style. I feel like that fighting style came from the bloodline of another quake fruit user, just like how there’s a guy that looks like snake man Luffy, that could also stretch his arms, and make fire attacks.

I hope one piece will explain if it’s possible for devil fruit traits to be passed down through the users bloodline.

So you saying Luffy would never learn how to do his hybrid form even though somebody like Kaku was able to pull off a hybrid form within the first couple of days of getting his fruit! I believe Luffy would have already learned how to turn his hands into claws, spit fire and use his tail as a prehensile tail. I know Lucy's not the smartest person but I do believe when it comes to battle prowess that man's a genius

The quake quake fruit power is actually a pretty good excuse for an OP character not to use his ability in every fight. A lot of anime have the trope of a character that is probably the strongest person alive, but they then build tension by either having that character absent so the secondary characters have to fight, they don't want to be found out so they hide their true power or some other convoluted explanation.

A character that learns early on that their insane power can cause catastrophic collateral damage would make for some very interesting dilemmas and character development. Take Luffy for example; if he doesn't outright kill a loved one, he would almost certainly cause terrible damage to his village. I don't think it's even a question; Luffy is young enough that he's still developing emotionally and mentally. He would be traumatized by the damage he's done, if not more so if there's a negative reaction from the village. Heck, in this timeline Shanks may well loose his when Luffy has one of his tantrums and accidentally hits his arm point blank before Shanks realizes the power Luffy gained.

Luffy would go from an upbringing of love and affection around him to fear of himself and possibly those around him. He'd likely leave to sea much earlier to get away from the island, likely give up on his dream to be the Pirate King and instead just drift around trying not to stay on any island for too long.

If we follow the main story beats of One Piece I imagine things go roughly the same way; he ends up captured by Alvida, frees Koby but, instead of encouraging Koby, he just steals a life boat at which point Koby rushes to join to get away from Alvida much to Luffy's chagrin. This Luffy prefers to isolate himself, but he's also too kind to force Koby to stay behind. They sail off to the nearest island so Luffy can ditch Koby and move on.

Once there, Luffy raids the Marine base for food and ends up freeing Zoro because, again, Luffy is still compassionate here. Luffy doesn't currently consider himself a pirate (even though stealing food probably makes him more piratey than the Luffy we know) so there is no immediate reason for Zoro to find Luffy particularly suspicious. Luffy also doesn't try to get Zoro to join him. I imagine they're both looking for a speedy way off the island to avoid the Marines and end up trying to grab the same boat. Instead of fight over it they both begrudgingly agree to take the boat together just to get going.

They land in Orange Town to restock on food. This arc largely goes the same way, except again Luffy doesn't yet identify as a pirate so the pirate hatting Nami has no immediate beef with him. Luffy does have a few spats on the matter though as Shanks is still his childhood hero. When leaving Orange Town Nami insists sticking with Luffy and Zoro for protection in exchange for her navigation skills. Luffy protests, but she's able to guilt him into sticking around. Zoro is basically just looking for a free ride so that he can track down pirates as, since there is no conflict with Luffy being one, he is very much still a pirate hunter.

Syrup Village I think is where Luffy starts to switch gears a bit. He's regularly arguing with Nami about how all the pirates he met were great people, but as the plot progresses and he sees the atrocity of Kuro manipulating Kaya for years and plotting to kill her he starts to realize some people are truly rotten to the core. While he has struggled to suppress his emotions lest he accidentally unleash his powers, he learns there are those that would willingly cause serious harm to those around them. It's in his anger when he learns Kuro's plan to kill off his own crew that Luffy loses control and unleashes a quake infused punch. Everyone around him is knocked down, an unsuspecting Kuro taking the hit point blank is obliterated and Luffy is in traumatic shock seeing the destruction he's caused. Thankfully no homes or civilians were affected, but the island now has a deep crack running through part of it. Nami and Ussop are shocked, but having spent time with him they console Luffy and show that by using his power he saved Kaya. They all want to continue sailing together with gives Luffy hope and rekindles his dream to one day be the pirate king.

If Luffy ate the yami yami fruit Black Beard could still have killed him with almost no difficulty in the pre-timeskip saga. Black Beard was some one who scarred an on guard Shanks, a Shanks who at bare minimum was in his late teens, since he didn’t have the scar at Roger’s execution. To make matters worse, Shanks was confident that Black Beard would be too much for Ace to handle. This is important as Shanks had no way off knowing that Black Beard had eaten the yami yami fruit so was confident that Black Beard using only haki could beat Ace who had reached the ranks of “first commander level” which any one who read the Ace Novel would know since he could somewhat match attacks from Whitebeard and with his ultimate attack, Ace forced Whitebeard to use his devil fruit and had the other white beard pirates noting that if Whitebeard took the attack, it wouldn’t matter if he was using haki, he would receive damage.

I think that black beard has eaten a special devilfruit that specifically allows him to eat more devil fruits, specifically one logia, one paramecia, and one zoan. This is because so far he has eaten a logia and a paramecia, plus all of the evidence proving that he will it a third fruit.

In my opinion, Quake Luffy himself would be WAY stronger. Unlike normal Luffy, he cant just use his devil fruit to tank attacks and get out of tough situations, as that'd cause too much destruction, so he'd have to power his body and fighting skill up before anything else, more similar to how Ace and Sabo trained. I think quake Luffy might actually find a way to learn haki on his own at some point, while using his quake fruit as just a minor power boost unless absolutely necessary. he might even use a pipe during combat like Ace and Sabo.
