A fun theory of mine on why Shanks didn't want Luffy to join his crew was that he didn't want Garp on his ass trying to get his grandson back. Shanks wouldn't have the power or influence of a Yonko he has now back then.

Luffys whole style of fighting is infact inspired by snipery. Yes, he fights hand to hand, but because of his rubber abilities he literally shoots his fists at people. He says in the first chapter that his lunch is as powerful as a gun. He names most of his attacks after guns. So if anything he would have taken influence from Ben Beckman and yasopp and still become a sniper fist.

What if shanks knew that Garp was luffys grandfather because Luffy would’ve said his full name is monkey D Luffy and there’s a really good chance that shanks could’ve known Garps full name. I wouldn’t want garp chasing after me because I took his grandson to make him a pirate 😂

In my opinion, I believe that the real reason Shanks’ crew has zero devil fruit users is because the devil fruit users on Gol D. Roger’s crew got sick while nearing laugh tale and he needs all of his crew to face the dangers or just see the things that are on laugh tale

The Luffy/Shanks backstory is a lot more interesting now that we know the true identify of Luffy's DF. Shanks left maybe the most important DF in existence in a (maybe) random kid on a (maybe) random island after stealing it from the WG. It's especially interesting since Shanks was close to Luffy's age (or maybe even a baby) when he was on Gold Roger's ship, and wouldn't have been a stranger to the concept of keeping Luffy around as a cabin boy. There are some cool things to learn about Shanks and his ideology in the future knowing those facts.

Or maybe its as simple as not wanting heat from Garp, if he knew at the time Luffy was Garp's grandkid. Regardless, Shanks not just trying to take down Teach at marineford, parlaying with the Gorosei, knowing about the Nika fruit and going after it, being so focused on the new generation and then betting an arm on it... I'm so excited to actually learn what his deal is

The reason Shanks didn’t let Luffy on the crew is because he already dealt with Garp while on the Roger pirates. He didn’t want more smoke than necessary

Actually the Vinsomke only found out about Sanji because he became a famous pirate, so Sanji would still be around and Robin would have a good chance too if she keeps avoiding the World Gov, chopper and brook would should still be there but the most to least likely to not be able to join, would be Zoro then Nami or Jinbe depending on if he has a crew or not as well as if someone like ace with a connection to white Beard is captured or not and if luffy can convince Jinbe. Forgot about Franky, I hope CP9 doesn’t strike early and he should be good.

I can see how they would come for Nami, like Luffy accidentally decimated their food supply so they dropped by Cocoyashi village and they see Arlong about to kill Belamere, Shanks and his crew saves them, Nami becomes childhood friends with Luffy and Usopp, even though Bellamere doesn't like it being a marine and all, she wants Nami to achieve her dream, she begrudgingly ask Shanks and his crew to take Nami with them, after seeing Nami skills they agree, I can see how Chopper, Robin, and Brook joining Shanks his crew because of Luffy pulling a Oden, and exploring the land there in without the red hair Pirates permission.

The fact mihawk and shanks use to have equal fights is amazing and even white beard said it is impressive, and shows how great a pirate and swordsman mihawk really is.
