My allergies got worse post kidney donation so I had to go hypoallergenic and decided on a standard poodle. BEST DECISION EVER!!! I now get the most wonderful greetings, hugs and smiles every time I walk through the door or simply baby him a bit. He's the most gentle loving pet my family has ever had and I absolutely would recommend the breed to anyone!

I’ve had four standard poodles. Best dog breed ever. My friend described my dogs as Dobermans in drag.

My standard poodle was such a smart puppy that we bought bells and a hundred pack of puppy pads. We sold the puppy pads on FB as a pack of 99. Our trainer was teaching him commands in Japanese and he was following them so accurately that he asked me twice if we had been speaking to him in Japanese at home… absolutely not! 😅 He’s intuitive. He can sense somehow what you need him to do. And he watches EVERYTHING. He stood quietly and watched a mother dear nursing her baby mere yards away. But let a threat come near my car and you’d think he was a wolf. Standard poodle are incredible to behold. I love him so much! 🥰

It was also a POODLE breeder by the name of Alene Erlanger that started Americas very first Dogs for Defence program during WW2. It always grinds my gears when people poke fun of poodles not knowing anything about them. Super smart and super trainable with key intuition and good judgment.

Another fact: Baron, the Victor Hugo's black poodle.
This wonderful dog making great thing for his master but hugo did not like to be disturbed during his work.
During a visit to Moscow, a friend of his liked his dog, so it was offered to him. A few months later, Victor receives a letter from his friend telling him that Baron has disappeared. It's in the middle of the night, a few weeks later, scratching sounds were heard at the door of his Parisian home. It was Baron! Thin and dirty, his dog has to cross all of Eastern Europe to return home. The legend says that Baron lived 7 years after returning home!

Did you know a dog sled team of poodles won a snow sled race back in 1991. Poodles are my favourite dog breed. It is interesting I used to never like the poodle breed until my Nan bought one, her Name is Muffin. My Nan passed away this year at the age of 93, she loved her poodle more than she loved anything else. and I have taken on Muffin as my own. We have a unbreakable bond, and I now and forever will always have a poodle in my home. She is the smartest dog I have ever had. And boy she has a strong personality lol. I see her as my very own child, since I can't have kids. I love her so much. I just wish dogs could live as long as humans 😥 Though I am greatful to spend every second with her.

conspiracy theory: poodle is the smartest dog in the world, but allowed the border collie to take the first spot so they can get away with a lot by their frou-frou image. now that's intelligent.

I have a standard poodle who I swear used to be a human in his past life because he is remarkably intelligent and seems to have a touch more depth than some of the previous dogs I've owned or experienced. When he was just a puppy, he knew how to open doors (by standing on his hind legs and leaning on the handles), swim, drop the ball when we played fetch(which I didnt even teach him) and was especially cuddly and tame/calm. He has alway been very alert and wary of strangers, and at such a young age, was already barking and defending the house.

He is even rather emotionally intelligent - he seems to alway know when I am upset.

Standard poodles have so many desirable traits: not shedding fur, high intelligence, and emotional depth. Despite considering myself a cat person, I have come to appreciate these qualities and now consider myself both a cat and a poodle person.

I’ve had lots of large breed dogs but spent about 35 years with strictly German wire hair pointer‘s a.k.a. Drahthaars. My hunting days are over and I needed a indoor dog that wouldn’t trigger my wife’s allergies. Got a standard poodle and we are thrilled with this dog. Not only is he smart, he’s got real good watch dog instinct. We have not trained for this but it’s just instinctual. Met a man recently whose grandfather has a ranch in northern Idaho and he keeps nothing but standard poodles to work all ranch duties. Guarding, herding, hunting and vermin control. He said those poodles will chase a coyote down and kill it. I have no reason to not believe him as I have been amazed how fast this dog is. Fastest dog I’ve ever owned except for a greyhound that I had once.

My toy is poodle is one the smartest dogs Ive ever known. She once feigned an injury after getting caught eating off our table. It worked the first time but not on the second lol

Grew up with several GSD, and was a huge fan of the breed...until we got our first Poodle.
You know the saying? It's true.
Once you go Poodle, you never go back!

We just adopted a toy poodle. Me, my wife and kids love it so far. He feels like another child, he is very affectionate :)

my favorite fact is, how smart they really are... and also, how loving and attentive toy poodles are. they don't want to miss a single event in the lives of my children.

We have been proud parents of Standard Poodles since 1967. They have and are wonderful members of our family.

I am the third generation to own poodles in my family. I've had both standards and miniatures and I will never choose another breed! So clever, loyal, funny and intelligent. I have kidney disease and all three of the poodles I've had and have, have been able to tell when im struggling and have stayed by my side. My standard poodle used to push against me when I was feeling faint to.keep me standing up to get the nearest safe place.

I have a moyen and she’s literally the perfect sized dog. She’s nimble and the fastest dog in the dog park. She can keep up with everything from biking to running in the snow, she’s 25 lbs so not hard to pick up and can jump 4 foot fences should she need to. Best part is she’s such a little noodle she doesn’t knock anything over or ever get in the way. I just got a standard two weeks ago.. we’ll see how he measures up

Everyone knows and loves the fetch fake out throw but my poodle will fake you out. He brings the rubber chew toy to you after you fake him out, puts it in front of you, “points” at it with his paw, then when you go for it he snatches it up, then he puts it back down in front of you and points at it again. I would be offended if I weren’t so impressed (and yeah ok I faked him out too so it’s only fair)

great video! I would have loved to see more of the Standard size though, it was mostly toys and minis.
