Explore the amazing science behind neutron star collisions that create black holes and birth heavy elements like gold and silver! We’ll take you through the process of how these cosmic collisions lead to kilonovas — massive explosions that illuminate the universe. Learn how the Hubble Telescope helped scientists witness this stellar event and discover the origins of some of the heaviest elements. Join us on this incredible journey!

alchemists: easy i just crash two mini neutron stars into each other

No such thing as “REAL TIME” in outer space, the universe is too vast for anything to be measured in real time, in fact, there’s still light from events that occurred during the dinosaurs era that haven’t hit our planet yet 👌🏼

Collect the dust of these stars, this is pure Gold

That was not in real. They were seeing what happened hundreds of thousands of years ago. Basically they tuned in at just the right time to catch the rerun!

We also know a other way these heavy elements are produced, the collapse of really massive stars ( thousand of solar masses), and other as bee theorised but not confirmed, the acression disk of supermassive black holes could produce heavy elements, but fun fact, all those collisions and prodution methods are quite rare and are not enough to explain the quantity of heavy elements in the universe.
There is still a lot to discover

I did not know 2 neutron stats colliding could make a black hole. Thats crazy and cool and I wish I could have seen it haha. Protected....obviously...

Creation of atoms? Energy into matter, contracts 2nd theory of thermodynamics & E=MC (C squared)

Seriously? In the mid 1990’s listening to a broadcast on the radio. Someone said that the black holes were nothing more that a spot in the universe where stars are so far away that no one can see them except with more powerful telescopes. Hence no black hole. The only time I ever heard this.

Could you imagine all of the black holes in a universe all coming together into one block hole and then all of the sun's, pulsars, magnatars, neutron stars and everything else with the density and gravity all going into the black hole all at the same time and then it all explodes out into the vacuum and starts to create a new universe and then it goes round over and over for unbelievable amounts of time for the cycle to continue.

imagine if they could actually see the atoms with Hubble that would be insane

Never happened. Black holes do not exist.

I wonder how many people have been over there to check out the elements that got made.

If this is true, why arent we mining space?

Do they really? The Bible talks about streets of gold in heaven so pure they are transparent. Was that formed from this collision?

Yeah after the crash they saw like two to three earths worth of gold . Talk about bling .
