The LET function in Excel is a game-changer for simplifying complex formulas and improving calculation efficiency. 🎯

In this video, we share lesson #1 on LET from our Modern Formulas Course. We just updated the course with new training on LAMBDA and LET, which will help you supercharge your spreadsheets.

This was the most self-sufficient explanation I've watched on LET since the formula was released. Thank you!

This is a perfectly adequate explanation of the let function. As an aside, I would ask why the weight was not multiplied by the quantity before comparing it to the 'bulk' threshold? Surely the weight in the reference table is 'per item'.

Great and I benefited from it. You are creative in the field of Excel.

Great video Jon, LET can be confusing to new users but you explained it well!

I never really appreciated the performance impact. Thank you for explaining it so well.

Nice video, I started using Let a few months back and love how neat it makes formulas look. I also tied it in with Lambda in Name Manager and it made it super tidy (although admittedly harder for users to follow).

That's so neat! Literally and figuratively. So much easier to edit or read someone else's formulas! When did this come out?

I first discovered LET() last year, because I found out the bad way that excel has a character limit for its formulas. Got my formula down from over 8000 characters to under 500, and it also made it way easier to update when our parameters changed a few months ago, since I just had to update the parameters once in each function instead of 24. (Plus, it runs much faster now)

Somehow I feel the quantity should be taken into account? 🤔

It is very odd to me to see someone forced to explain the most basic of programming language concepts, the assignment statement, to Excel users. Especially because apparently a cell has to be randomly denoted for the thing in order to get two sequential activities executed in a row. I would long since bailed out to Visual Basic or Python or whatever else is lurking under that overblown skin. I should talk, since I have been guilty of overloading my systems with too many ways to do the same thing as well, but at some point it all gets out of hand. Especially since the underpinnings of VIsicalc, Lotus123 and their heirs are fundamentally flawed. Powerful systems, and powerfully dangerous.
