Actually to solve this, they should be as competent as you since you have the same salary or you should straight up ask a rise

I always try not to use helper columns..🤷

Rules can be stretched a little bit:
I use LET() and local variables and ALT+ENTER to break things up a little.
Complex formulas arise, but they can still be a short as my thumb (in the width, that is).
BTW: that way I don't need helper columns.
In it's ultimate form: put everything in a LAMBDA, and you rule always applies. :-)

And if you currently have Insider Beta, you can use the Advanced Formula add-in to help create Lambda() functions to incorporate with a long list of results, so you ultimately only use 1 formula, for 1-100s of same set of calculated columns. Thus a faster loading workbook.

Sometimes I use complex formulas to confuse other people...😋😂

strongly disagree, my coworkers need to understand my KPIs and dashboards, Having so many helper columns make the file heavier. If another person wants to add to the file they better be good at excel or you're gonna have the columns copied multiple times and you get that kind of file with a model and calculations that becomes unintelligible you don`t know what's input what's output and to be optimized you spend more than needed

sorry to ask Jon but would those broken/short formula can be used as combined formula in one formula?

Does having many small formulas for 1k+ rows cause the workbook to slow down? Made the mistake of making many small pivot tables to assist with multi-tiered analysis; completely bricked the workbook when navigating between sheets. I fixed it but can you have a similar problem with this solution with expansive data?

Just today, I used nested if with six conditions, , , 😃😃 didn't have ifs in mine version

Won't we face performance issues, might it take longer time when we multiple raws of data.
Plz correct me

I've inherited a 20 year old database spreadsheet where I work. Dozens of users have been in charge of updating the sheet every day and every one of them added their own features to it. I don't know what half the formulas even do.

Why would you need your boss to understand formula? This way it makes you more important

and why you want your formula to be easily read?

I have just learnt this in coursera.

The timing is weird.
