You missed the most incredible feature of Reaper, it has the most comprehensive help system I've ever seen called Kenny Gioia!

Theres a reason we're a little OTT praising Reaper. It DESERVES IT. Intelligent software by respectful developers.

I paid for it because I had a huge respect for them to give a free trial of 60 days, and even after 60 days passes you can still use it. I had to give something in return. I may not be using Reaper for now since I never had to work on some music or sound effects, but someday I might. Thank you team and please, stay awesome.

And the simple routing. And the continuous updates. The big community. The pricing. Never crashes. Compatibility with all kind of (plugin) formats. List just goes on and on ❤

I just love that Reaper is build with a music production mind set, not like most other DAWs that build to mimic an anolog console INCLUDING the stupid limitations and weird routing. Yeah I know my way around a console. But why on EARTH would I want to be bothered with that in a DAW! Thanks Kenny, again, for your stellar videos. Actually learned 2 new things here. You're king.

Reaper is:

1) The most optimized program for working with any type of processor (when you switch to Reaper, you will feel like you bought a new computer).

2) The most detailed customizable program,
which will become an indispensable tool for you, with unlimited possibilities that cannot be achieved in another “just one program”.

3) The most frequently updated program, with quick bug fixes and serious innovations without loud advertising (if there is a critical bug, you can write to the developers, and they will release a fixed installer within a maximum of 2-3 days before the release of the official version).

4) Works on any system (Windows XP to Windows 11 and Mac OS 10.5 to 10.15+) with 32-bit and 64-bit plugins.

5) Price $60 for current and next versions (actually $30 per version). Developers work on each version for about 3 to 5 years, with frequent updates (about 2 times a month).
You get a rapidly developing program for a penny.

6) A fully functional portable version of the program that works easily from a flash drive. You can work anywhere with your favorite program and plugins.
P.S.
All DAWs are good but Reaper is Fantastic!!!

I'm 58 years old. I started in music very early (at the age of 15 as a drummer in a garage band). I switched to Synths when I was 17 and then started using the "Amiga 500" computer for MIDI sequencing. Later I switched to a "Pentium 2" PC with Windows 3.11. Since then I've used and tested many, many, many DAWS (almost all) but after I found Reaper (Version 5), the search stopped. Reaper easily became my "go-to" DAW for everything audio-related. I don't need anything else. It is simple, fast, light on CPU, super-stable and owes nothing to any competitor. Stay safe.

Been using reaper for like 14+ years and I swear everytime I watch one of your videos I learn something I didn't know about the application. I learned aleast 3 or 4 new features from this video alone!

Whenever I talk to people about Reaper, there are two reasons I recommend it: the incredible customizability that lets me tailor it to exactly how my mind works, and the astonishingly comprehensive range of video tutorials. Thank you Kenny for being such a huge part of why Reaper is so good ❤

Long time Reaper user and viewer of the channel. Despite being a full time Reaper user since 2009, there were more than a few items in this video that I didn't know about and are SUPER useful. Thank you sharing all of this!

All the videos you've made were a huge help when I switched from my previous DAW. I'm 100% Reaper now!

Ha! I thought Cockos had done something terrible for a moment - I read the thumbnail as "Why Reaper? WHY?"

Holy crap! You just introduced me to automation items, and they've blown my mind!

To me, Reaper seems like it was created with a programmer's mindset. It feels to me like an IDE for music. I think this is what intimidates some people, especially if they're used to simulate the analog console workflow. However, with a bit of experience and adjusting to this "programmer's mindset", they'll find that Reaper actually offers the most personal workflow, and it's actually super intuitive (to that mindset). Also, while the big number of options could seem confusing, it actually allows the simplest and fastest solutions to all kinds of tasks. I mean, effect containers? That's recursive effect channels. This addition to Reaper 7 is the cherry on top of the cake.

A key feature that I use is being able to record the output of that track directly into the timeline. This is brilliant if you want to use plugin instruments but record them as audio, I do this a lot so that i'm not tempted to quantise or correct the MIDI Data, you also haven't got to worry about whether you held the sustain pedal before recording, and can start the recording with a ready held note too.

I've not seen that feature in any other DAW i've used. It provides an outboard experience with the variety and selection of plugins. Working in this way creates a more humane recording to my ear.
