just a note: Moira didn't experiment on him after the swiss fight, she did it way before, it was one of the reasons why reaper brought her into black watch.

Reyes and Morrison (Soldier 76) fought at the Swiss Headquarters because tension, internal and external/political, was building up rlly badly. The two fought, probably going near the base’s power core/reactor, and ended up blowing it up in their fight. Morrison’s body was never found, but Moira found Reyes’ body, which was in a near death state. To quickly save him before he expired, she injected him with a stronger version of what gave Reyes the ability to turn partially into dark mist. It saved him, at the cost of being in constant agony and being able completely into dark mist with concentration.

Edit: Yes, I had the time to read the lore and type this out. Was this the best use of my time? Probably not, but reading the lore is better than hearing a general and incorrectly summarized version of it.

There is one thing about Reaper that’s interesting. In his wiki, it mentioned how he didn’t mind Jack taking over Overwatch- but then it says that he fought Jack out of jealousy for the role, so it’s possible that they fought for a different reason and this was just a cover up

It theorized and hinted quite a bit that Reyes did already have his reaper powers before the fall of overwatch, but they were less intense, and then Moira’s experimentation caused him to struggle to maintain his human form

Dont forget that Morrison after being presumed dead became a vigilante who was following traces of organized crime wherever he could find it while Reaper is slowing going crazy while trying to vuild up Talon for whatever his crazy goals now entail
