He saw potential in you and knew you could do it. It just came out as a rollercoaster.

Parenting. There is no rule book. You learn as you go, and hope for the best.

I miss Mom.

That's a lot of shit to put your kid through for good grades but it does really show how hard he was trying to raise you well.

Your dad sounds like a very smart man... just like my grandfather was. He grew up extremely extremely poor and his dad died when he was 12. He excelled in high school, went to The University of Florida where he was part of Phi Beta Kappa, and went to med school after graduating where he was in the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honors society, and later trained at one of the top cancer institutes in the United States. He ended up working as a cancer surgeon for over 40 years. He loved learning and reading and always knew the importance of having a sharp mind and using intelligence to benefit others. He became successful through nothing but talent and grit. He passed away in December of 2020, but I’ll always remember him for the role model that he was to me and so many others.

I'm also first generation american and I really wish I was taught to speak Spanish. Both my parents are fluent but didn't teach me. Parents who pass on their language and culture do their children a huge service even if you don't realize it until later

Father daughter relationships can be difficult but you can always find your way around things no matter how hard it gets. If your parents are making you do something, there is a good reason behind it. My dad always expects the best of me and wants me to be number one in school but he doesn't understand that everyone has different capabilities. Still though, I find the best in myself when he makes me work hard. 🥰 I don't think I've ever said this to a YouTuber but your content is great! It makes me feel as if I'm in the study mood while being entertained too. I think it might be because I can somewhat relate to you.

Every day I had a tutoring math with my dad when I was young. Without him tutoring me at that time I would NOT been the way I am now as a Aerospace Engineer. Thankful to your dad

Persistence and skeptical perseverance towards an unfathomable goal, especially when guided by those wiser and more righteous in their intention, can set the foundation for truly remarkable results. Like freakin' awesomely glazalicious 가지볶음.

I always seem to cry watching these TKV shorts. I realize now more than ever, the true importance of parenting on someone’s life. The sentimental joy of your parents always trying their best, even if they don’t have the tools. Knowing someone has the same level of sentimentality as me really makes me feel less alone, and pushes me to do more things that truly matter.

I wish parents knew how to explain their expectations to their kids instead of just bombarding us with them, expecting us to understand like we're adults.

Sweet but he shouldn't have taken it that far
He needs to understand this can, although bring success to a child, also make them feel stupid, worthless and unloved watching their other sibling get free time while they're stuck doing work.

Oh my God that just made me cry - because that is exactly the memory of my stepfather. And because of him I still speak and read and write in Russian, and graduated in the top 10 of my class. And that was in fact the most I ever spent with him. Thank you for bringing back that memory it's funny how sometimes you forget to look back and reevaluate. :-)

Ngl when I hear you talk about your father, I feel very warm and happy, but also sad. I’ve been working with my therapist with feelings of mourning the relationship I wish I had with my father. Almost every memory I have of him is him angry, drunk, or both. I used to cry any time I saw a father with his child(ren) in public, because it brought back those feelings of mourning. His and my relationship is irreconcilable now as I work to have zero contact with him and his side of the family. I hope that one day, I can stop feeling sad about this

This is the kind of father-daughter bonding I truly wish I had...my father died when I was only 5yrs old and I grew up wondering what it was like. To have a father who teaches you things.

Doing math with dad is one of the most traumatizing things ever because my dad gets super mad when I don’t know the answers to problems for some reason which is why everything is weird

The things we understand later on in life is always bittersweet because we initially thought they were punishment only to realise they were blessings in disguises.🙂 Kudos to your dad and to you for finally "getting the lessons" in more ways than one.
