The 6th reason is SOOO true. As a cellist, I had shoulder pain at the age of 12 and it hurt sooo much. So, if you’re small and you wanna be a cellist... just no.

which is painful when it’s a piece that you just listened to.

First reason is so true. But you don’t really need to take that seriously tho. Asian parents are hard to please. I became a lawyer and one would assume my parents are happy about that. They are not😂There’s always better lawyers, more-earning lawyers, female lawyers that have both professional life and personal life figured out, blah blah. Asian kids gotta learn to please ourselves right😉Be a musician if that makes you happy. You deserve that.

BTW I feel the same about the friend thing. They just think I'm acting posh, but that's just what I like just as they like Kpop. It's so hard to find people who love ballet and classical music at my age.

I'm from an Asian family and tbh they care about me being a musician except my mom. I play different kinds of music too. I was even invited to play with a well known Indian musician at his concert!!

I don't really consider some of these as negatives, but just as being different from other people which in itself isn't bad at all.
That makes you unique in my opinion.
Plus, I myself am different and can relate to a lot of this without being a musician 😅

Music is and will be a staple in life. Classical musicians tend to be elitist about their type of musician as they generally perform at lavish concert halls to small groups of elites. In contrast, non-classical musicians may be more “pedestrian” but the perform/appeal to the masses. BlackPink garners more viewers/listeners in a year compared to Bach in a decade. This issue is simply resolved: To each their own as it’s a matter of taste. Classically trained musicians are coming down from their pedestals to play and perform OSTs for a living.
Other classically trained musicians, like Joe Hisaishi, are now performing “less classical music” (even for anime OSTs) to the masses with massive success.
So, classical music can be occupation or preoccupation; don’t socially stratify it; to his his own; find your own meaning n enjoyment in music!
