Tipsy Oklahoma Teacher Arrested at School
In September of 2023, Jennifer Davis, a teacher at Cross Timbers Elementary School in Tecumseh, Oklahoma, was arrested at work for public intoxication. School staff reportedly noticed that she seemed out of sorts, and quite possibly drunk, and decided to contact authorities. They quickly got her away from the students, notified parents, and brought local police in. Officers arrived and questioned Davis, who claimed that she had enjoyed a glass of wine the night before and no alcohol since, before failing several field sobriety tests. Since there are many factors that could go into somebody failing field sobriety tests, officers decided to give her a breathalyzer test, just to be sure that alcohol was actually the culprit. True to their suspicions, the tipsy teacher blew a .066, which is below the legal limit for driving under the influence, but more than enough to discount the educator’s claim that her last time imbibing alcohol had been the night before. Because of her apparent impairment in a public setting, particularly in her capacity as a teacher for young students, Davis was booked despite her relatively low blood alcohol level. In the wake of the incident, Davis has parted ways with the school, with a substitute teacher filling in until a more permanent replacement can be found. For the school’s part, leadership put a message out to parents stating that no students witnessed the arrest, and no staff will be revealing to students what happened to Ms. Davis.
