Can PRP Injections Help Knee Pain⁉️ #shorts

Current knee arthritis treatments focus on disease prevention and early treatment including physical therapy, oral medications, and intra-articular (into knee joint) injections. Knee injections (local anesthetics, hyaluronic acid, and corticosteroids) are often an option for patients with early-to mid-stage osteoarthritis who fail to achieve satisfactory results from other non-surgical treatments. These treatments often provide only temporary benefits and can be accompanied by side effects such as stiffness and swelling at the injection site. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is a more recent treatment that has attracted attention because of its high regenerative capacity, ease of extraction and preparation, low rejection rate, and relatively few adverse effects.

PRP or platelet rich plasma is a highly concentrated autologous (your own) blood product of platelets and other active substances and may play an important role in autologous cell therapy in various regenerative medicine programs. Inflammation and inflammatory responses are thought to be key factors that cause and accelerate osteoarthritis damage and theoretically, PRP therapy may reduce inflammation during joint #osteoarthritis treatment.

PRP contains a high percentage of various growth factors, such as fibroblast growth factor, epidermal growth factor, vascular endothelial growth factor, transforming growth factor-β and platelet-derived growth factor. Some recent studies suggest that these components of PRP may be involved in modulating the inflammatory processes contributing to the tissue structures preservation or even regeneration. In recent years, PRP for #KneeOsteoarthritis has become increasingly common in clinical practice and is a promising treatment, but there are no clear conclusions about the role of PRP in #arthritistreatment and further high-quality studies are needed. #kneeinjection

It worked for my arthritis in my knees. So far nothing the orthopedic surgeons have done has helped until I found this PRP injection.

I had PRP and prolotherapy for my back. It’s extremely painful and hideously expensive; but it did work. I would do it for my joints if I could afford it.

Latest studies, 60mL or better. For knees 80-120mL to get enough platelets for a large joint like the knee.

December 5th, i got my injection, and I have to say it has made a difference. You can't overdo it because you WILL feel it hurt. I'm now waiting to get another shot in the other knee in 3 months from now.

Mid-fifties with moderate tri-compartmental knee arthritis and a torn medial meniscus. Had fluid removed from my knee followed by a PRP injection during the third week of Nov. It’s now early January, the swelling and pain have subsided and it feels so much better- I no longer have throbbing pain and I’m able to walk pain free. Dr informed the benchmark effects really show 4-8 weeks after the PRP injection and that has been my experience. Originally had low expectations but I would do it again!

I’ve had it done 3 times in L4, L5 area lower back, neck, and knees the last 5 years. It does work, last a while. Wish insurance would help with it.

Not covered by my insurance so, at $1000 per injection I had to pass. My ortho suggested using hyaluronic acid like Sinvisq in leau of corticosteroids. HA works as a lubricant rather than an anti inflammatory. My insurance does cover that and allows for injections every 6 months.

MY FIRST PRP WORKED THE NEXT DAY I WALKED PAIN FREE...NO GIMPING. FELT LIKE I WAS 14 YEARS OLD AGAIN !... 3 WEEKS MY BODY ABSORBED IT AND I NEEDED ANOTHER INJECTION. UNFORTUNATELY THE DOC MISSED THE JOINT INTERIOR POCKET AND NO RESULTS. HE EXPLAINED THATS WHY WE CALL IT PRACTICE.😮
YES IT WORKS FOR MY SPECIFIC CONDITION. I WILL GET AN EXPERIENCED EXPERT DOCTOR TO DO IT NEXT TIME

I’m not sure if it worked for me. After my 1st OA flare, I was back running Olympic weighting before the shot. I weigh 177 Ibs at 5’11”, and the docs are saying that plays a huge part in finding relief.

I have had 3 sets. The first set was in 2021. I broke my back in 2012 and crushed and shattered the cartilage in both knees after falling 40 feet from a tree that I at first landed in while doing a tree jump airborne rough terrain training. I was in a wheelchair most of the time from 2013-2021. After the PRP I was able to go hunting and hiking again pain free. It does wear out after about 1-1.5 years. But it’s worth getting it again
