For the people asking about if Crna's can pick their hours, many can. For example one crna stated that he would work one 24 hour day and another 16 hour day so that he only had to work twice a week. Many get 6 weeks vacation time per year. Great benefits!

I just got into the University of Toronto for nursing. So in two years, I'll be an RN, but I really aspire to have this career. Nurse Anesthetist is my dream career. They aren't common in Canada, might move to the US to become one.

Being a nurse anaesthetist in the US or in other countries with this nursing system is so cool. In germany, a nurse anaesthetist is only allowed to prepare medications, checking the anaesthetist's workplace, supervising the patient in the recovery room etc. You are not allowed to develop an anaesthetic plan, you are never ever going to perform a spinal / epidural / nerve block on your own and so on. To perform the activities of a nurse anaesthetist in Germany, you have to study medicine and become anaesthetist.

Can't decide if I want to be CRNA or if I should go to med school and become an anesthesiologist. I'd much rather be the latter, but the debt that comes with medical school seems to be overwhelming.
