Показать описание
Millions of Americans are enrolled in both the Medicare and Medicaid programs and millions more will become eligible over the next few years (possibly someone near and dear to you). These people are referred to as ‘dual eligible.’ The impact of these benefits (for Dual Eligibles) is to significantly reduce or completely eliminate the costs of health care - if you understand how to use them to their greatest effect.

This presentation will:
Examine the characteristics of dual eligibility.
The benefits that each program (Medicare and Medicaid) provides.
How each program coordinates with the other.
The special problems that dual eligibility generates and how to effectively deal with those problems.
Presenter: Bill McKendree

Thank you for this great wealth of information. I have been dealing with an SNP and it is a total nightmare. Most providers in the SNP network will not accept my medicaid as my secondary payment. So even though to my understanding even as you explained the snp is for dual eligibles I have nothing but problems getting even the simplest things accomplished like an xray or a regular pcp office visit. Keep getting bills in the mail for the part medicaid is suppose to pay and I'm the one that has to track down why. Its ridiculous

This was exceptional in explaining how Medicaid and Medicare works. I have been on Medicaid the past 2 years. I dont understand how I qualified because every chart I see, my SS check is over. That being said, I don't know if I will remain eligible next year when I turn 65. This was very informative for me as now I can plan both case scenarios. Also, I was shocked to hear that Medicaid would not pick up the prescription portion once Medicaid becomes secondary, so thank you for mentioning that I will need to sign up for Part D

Well tell me what is the cutoff limit for medicaid because I'm from Tennessee and they turned me down for medicaid 2-3 times. I do get LSI but that's all

I'm glad you clearly explain that an avantage plan may not be good for everyone because of the restrictions. I rather get a medigap, and yes like my friends say they can't accord it...what I can afford is a medicaid "the clawgrab"

I am turning 65 in 2 months so after watching your excellent presentation, I decided to apply for Medicaid also since I am poverty level and will apparently qualify for thos programs that will help me with the $170. a month Medicare program.
My only question is what is the difference between SLMB which I qualify for and the better program QMB ? Id rather apply for QMB but not sure if I can due to low income like the SLMB program.
Thanks for all your help since one friend told me I didnt have to get Medicare but since I worked more than 10 years paying taxes, Medicare contacted me stating I should pick a plan or they will automatically put me in the A&B plan which I cant afford.
One last question is if Medicare automatically puts me in Medicare Savings Plan and LIS plan when my Medicare goes through or do I have to contact the SSA ?
Thanks again Eric

Been told, if you have Medicaid, you can't buy a MediGap supplement. If you are not eligible for Medicaid by assests or higher income, your MediGap supplement is available, but premiums might be higher😢.

Advantage plans are ok if you are healthy but as you age you’re gonna need more meds, more hospitalization, big ticket items, X-rays, mri, etc - that’s when you can get into big debts cause you pay thru the nose on those items & many times these private insurance companies deny or delay your dr’s treatment plan- with Medicare A& B, & medi gap what the Dr says goes- you get the procedure or surgery or mri paid in full
