Wow, he offered the man basic employment. What a hero…

I like how in this episode the CEO of DHL had “no idea” there were so many underpaid contractors with no employment protections working for his company. And that the “prize” for working so hard was basic employment rights.

I'm from Quirinopolis, Brazil, Marcelo's birthplace. he was always well liked by those who knew him. very kind and respectful. always cheerful and cordial. he certainly deserved all the success he had in England. congratulations.

Trust but verify. You could see the skepticism on his face during the beginning part of the reveal. I can respect that though because as most hardworking people can understand it's incredibly rare that someone would care enough to give you a trip and a contract with good job offers just by seeing you work hard and be good at your job.
But I'm happy for this guy. Hard work sometimes does pay off.

We are in a dystopia if this is what CEOs consider a reward for being a "valuable asset"

Can't blame his doubt for the moment. You work so hard and put others first with kindness and integrity, never expect anything in return. Suddenly, the CEO wants to reward/gift you an incredible opportunity and goes extra further by giving you a paid vacation to visit family. It's those kinds of blessings you think doesn't happen for the little guys, but they happen. Bless him and his family.

I’m an engineer and I worked for DHL as a delivery services office (van driver) for 3 years when I arrived in Australia. I didn’t have Australian references and was difficult to get a job as engineer. I worked hard, I delivered more than any other driver because I was planning my deliveries using my engineering knowledge. I was asked to present ideas to reduce costs and I presented a project to use electric vans using solar panel in our roof depot. Also, using incentives from the government. I contacted a company based in UK to get the electric vans to be used in Perth. I did all that was on my hands to get promoted but I was never get promoted, my boss just wanted me to be a van driver even though I said to him I can help DHL with my knowledge of engineering and my studies in logistics. I had to resign when I got an opportunity. This happen in 2009. I work now as engineer in a different company but I would have liked to get an opportunity in DHL. I just wanted to share this with you guys. Have a nice day and God bless all of you . Happy Easter.

I'm glad the company helped him. A guy w a great, cheerful personality whose customers love him should be in sales. Ceo should promote talent and initiative

I actually also really liked that the boss reacted humorously and understood Marcelo's healthy skepticism instead of disregarding it or even being offended.

I can relate to his lack of confidence. Just like in Brazil, in my native Argentina people live constantly in an environment of deception, disappointments, lies, even at work environments; so it is no wonder he felt this way.

Usually people like this get walked on so it was good to see this. I'm happy for him and glad the boss recognised his qualities.

Funny how bosses don't do the right thing until camera rolls

As a fellow brazilian, we are vwry accostumed to broken promises, broken dreams and dissapointment in general. To see a man being 14 years self employed with a lot of uncertainty but pride in his job and helping his family even with the low wage makes me proud

Its so sad how our whole lives we are told "hard work pays off". Here you have a guy working super hard for himself and his family and it wasn't paying off how he deserved. When he gets his gifts, he doesn't even believe it. He's worked hard without "reward" (for lack of better word) for 14 years he thinks the gifts he is given are fake. That is so sad. But im happy he got this. Deserves it and more.
