I love the cold fury in Emily's eyes when she tells Barkis to get out, and when her eyes follow him walking away to make sure he doesn't pull any more tricks. She's not the same woman she was when she died.

That part where the dead are held back because he’s alive and they need to “abide by their rules” then he dies and Elder Gutknecht says, “he’s all yours.” Honesty I think that’s one of my favorite parts of the whole movie.

I admire Emily being protective of Victoria by the way she puts an arm on her shoulder 1:48. Not to mention how, despite her decomposition, put herself between Barkis and Victor.

Emily didn't stop Barkis from drinking the poison, but I think she was almost as horrified by him being dragged off as Victoria.
This may have been part of why she could move on but the other dead people were still trapped. She had let go of her need for revenge as well as her obsession with getting a husband.

The last part gives me chills every time. Her going "New Arrival" the way she does just makes youknow what they will do to him is best not being known.

I absolutely loved how “NEW ARRIVAL!” — a line that was so joyous and celebratory — has this amazing payoff as righteous vengeance for Emily once Barkis became the “new arrival.”

I've always liked this interpretation of the afterlife: everyone goes to the same place but how you lived your life has a big impact on how the dead will receive you, if you're a reasonably decent person, the afterlife is basically just an endless party, but if you were really bad, well, maybe it's better left unsaid.

I'm now thinking about something. Does the way she stopped the sword point to how she was killed. If so a stab to that section would not have killed her and her saying he left her to die means he buried poor Emily alive still. That hand sticking out could have been her trying to crawl out. Holy S*th ... I just made this even more sad for myself.
