Shock in EMS education is one of the main emergencies you will learn about as an EMT student. Putting together your patient assessment skills and your physical exam skills to perform a shock assessment.

Shock is also known as hypoperfusion this is when the tissues/organs of the body are not receiving enough oxygen/blood.

There are many different types of shock that I will cover in this video: Cardiogenic shock, hypovolemic shock, obstructive shock, distributive shock, septic shock, psychogenic shock, anaphylactic shock and neurogenic shock.

The stages of shock will also be discussed so you are aware of what happens during shock. Our goal in EMS, is recognize shock before it progresses to cardiac arrest.

Bro this might be the first time Iv commented in years, I got certified in the summer in an accelerated course and it felt rushed. Iv been going through your videos and it’s nuts how much they help lmao. I have an application pending for FDNY-EMS so hopefully all works out and if it does you are a huge part of that with helping my career

I appreciate these videos so much! Some good stuff! I just had a question regarding hypovolemic shock. Why don’t you mention anything about the two subtypes to that? Hemorrhagic shock and metabolic shock. That is the only thing that I feel is not being broken down. I’m sure it will be on the NREMT exam.
