I love these! If for nothing else, just to see the excitement and pleasure on Mr. Olly's face.

I read The Totem last year and have never heard it mentioned anywhere, so it's nice to see you've received it. I thought it was entertaining and had much better writing than a lot of 80's horror I've read. That tote bag though has to be the highlight of this unboxing.

Loved Morrell’s Brotherhood Of The Rose as a teen, the tv film from the early 90’s was pretty good too. Never read the two sequels though, must get around to that! Absolutely right about First Blood a fantastic novel.

Fun fact! The Creature from the Black Lagoon was filmed in my hometown! In the Silver Springs park. We also had the Tarzan show film here and they left a bunch of monkeys that now harass fishermen. They thought monkeys couldn't swim and they left them on an island and they escaped. Absolutely ravaged the ecosystem for a while.

The Totem is a pretty good book. I read it in the 80s, then again in the 00s on Kindle. The Kindle has the original paperback version and version with a different ending.

The Totem is one of my top ten….highly recommend it.

The mystery bit is always the most fun as a viewer. That tote is pretty amazing. Enjoy!

I’m much keener on the two main books in this box than I am on either of the books in the last one

As I said last month, I wasn’t hugely convinced by that box. This month seems much more for me.

That said, I’m sure I’ll read them all eventually

I’m reading Dark Cathedral by Freda Warrington ATM and that book is *very* me. I’m absolutely loving it.

The Totem is terrific, Olly. There's one particular scene -- you'll know it as soon as you come to it -- that makes me super jealous I didn't write it. Enjoy!

Hard DNF for The Totem for me a few years back. Bored out of my mind but you might like it!

I got my very first Abominable box yesterday (well it was a black bag), and it was exciting! I got A Dean Koontz book I already have for the mystery book...but the UK cover is much prettier than the copy I had, so I'll be taking my US copy to the bookbin. ☺

David Morrell ! You've struck gold. Love the sticker and book marks too.

I got the third Hannibal book by Thomas Harris. I’d normally be a bit miffed getting a sequel, but I’ve seen the first two films, so feel like this will still be a good ride!

Finished The Hollow Kind and rather enjoyed it! Just starting The Tangle.

Love the tote bag. I read The Hollow Kind last Halloween. Haunted house and a family fortune built on turpentine. I was in. At least for awhile. It's one of those books where the writing is so good and lush and thoughtful but I was exhausted with it by the time I got to the ending. You should checkout the American cover. It's very different.

Paper bag ASMR 😅. I couldn’t help spoiling myself by watching this.

I got The Haunting Of Hill House by Shirley Jackson

Really pleased with my first Abominable box ( didn’t get close to the chocolate once my locust children had eyed it!) two books I wouldn’t normally pick up ( I fear ‘The Tangle’ maybe a bit too clever for me) and my mystery book was Mo Hayder’s Hanging Hill. An author I’ve been meaning to read for years. My excitement only tempered by reading that the Lady who wrote as Mo Hayder had passed away a couple of years ago, very sad.

For the third month in a row I got a book I already have for my mystery book. I got Let the Right One In by John Ajvide Lindqvist. I do like the sound of both of the books in this box though, so looking forward to reading them!

So many books out there. I remember that one episode from Outer limits where people had implants and could download any book at any time, people did not have to read because the implants would handle data exchange. Anyway, I planned at one point to read Dan Simmons - Children of the Night ( some action takes place in Romania), then I wanted to read the one you mentioned as the most disturbing book, and now I am reading Sherlock vs Dracula. The amount of books arround us is amazing, and it is indeed dificult to read everything. Btw did you read anything from your co-national Tom Holland ( the historian, not spiderman), he has some realy interesting vampire stories.

I was vey happy about the tote bag as well.... was your box not filled with the bits of cardboard that inevitably fall all over the carpet?!
