Couldn’t agree more about the counter-offer. When I was in management, if someone accepted a counter, it merely gave us time to find a better solution...at our leisure, not with two weeks notice. People who threaten to quit rather than negotiate in a mature manner just aren’t people I want hanging around.

You made it really simple. I had situation that went so nasty after I resign. Rumours and stabs and hate messages from the manager. Apparently it happened to everyone who resign with that manager.

Next thing, bonus. Make sure you get that bonus in your bank account before you put out that letter.
