You can give a 2 weeks notice. And they will burn bridges with you for simply leaving.

I personally wouldn't give any more than 2 weeks notice because if they want to fire you, your gone that day.

Never tell an employer where you are going! I know someone who had a job offer retracted when her current supervisor badmouthed her to someone in HR at the new company.

Before your meeting, be sure to have prepared responses for scenarios such as ‘what can we do to keep you’ ‘are you open to a counter offer’ etc. without prepared responses things can get awkward quickly and negate the graceful approach that’s being advised here.

I really wish I could have done that with my last job. I worked there for over 8 years but things got soooo bad I quit without a notice. It was either that or go into a hospital for a nervous breakdown. I found out I was on their “do not rehire” list...like I’d ever go back there 😂.

I've seen people give their two weeks in good faith and get let go that day. So, honestly... one week should be the norm. Lots of companies play by some horrible rules.

So helpful, I have a new job where I will be working for the company that sub contracts my previous company. So will have to work with my old company's people. I need to leave in a positive way and tread a bit carefully
