I started with the „Meatless Monday”/ I had one meatless day a week. This was because my dad found out how much better it would be for the climate, just having one meatless day a week.
We started by just replacing the meat 🥩 in burgers 🍔, lasagne, pizza 🍕, pasta dishes etc with some plant-based/vegetarian options. After I while, doing that, we found out how good it actually tastes, and also which of the alternatives we liked and disliked.
Now we wanted to have more meatless days, and just kind of doing what we already did, just 2-3 times a week.
I then, mostly through YouTube and Netflix (fx TED’s videos and the series “Our Planet”, found out how bad climate change really is, and felt bad about eating meat 🥩. In that period my dad just started cooking more plant-based foods, also because this was now the most familiar to us, and we rather wanted it than meat. We now ate meatless 4-6 times a week. So actually, now it was switched around, and we mostly had only had one day in the week eating meat. So we were almost vegetarians.
At that time I still drank milk 🥛 and ate yoghurt because I thought this would be the best for my growth (I’m 14). But then I watched Game Changers, and discovered this channel, learned some more, and decided to go vegan 🌱.
I have been vegan 99% of the time for a month now and have replaced “normal” yoghurt with Alpro yoghurt, and milk 🥛 with alternatives like Oat-drink, Soy-drink, “Ricedrink”, and a pea-based drink.
I’m not a “religious” vegan, so I don’t follow it 100%, but my diet is plant-based.
This whole “journey” took me 1 1/2 years 😁

In a perfect world, videos would go viral based on thier rationality and intrinsic "truths", like this video. Well done sir. 🤙

Finally nutrition content that doesn't feel like propaganda and is simple. Great work!

My favourite nutrition YouTuber! Keeps it entertaining and easy to understand while being objective and not feeding us nonsense about fad diets. Also doesn’t seem to feed us vegan propaganda but rather actual studies etc.

GREAT to finally see a video by a nutritionist who is balanced and unbiased; advocates HEAPS of plant-based foods but is NOT against eating meat. It's a breath of fresh air. I'm definitely inspired today to eat a variety of plant-based foods after watching Game Changers AND this and his review. #GottaGetHealthy #MeatIsStillDelicious

Honestly I find it so refreshing seeing you talk without contempt and always emphasising that we don’t have to change at all if we don’t want to. I am to be honest a heavy meat eater but seeing your videos kinda wants me to make a change

First I thought your videos had a bit tooo much energy and you "oversell" or "over-promote" your ideas and views. Now, I can't get enough of your info you provide. I am 90% Whole-Based Plant-Based for the past 5 years and have now as a 59-year-old more energy than 10 years ago. I even forgot when I had last time a cold or a headache. And I lost 25 lbs. without even trying. Keep it up, Dr. Gil.

My Aussie son's Japanese wife had a baby about 1 year ago and on a visit I noticed his plate with about 6 different types of food on it...with lots of Japanese influence.
She said she had been recording all the different foods she had fed him, in addition to continuing to breast feed....and said 65
What a great present to his gut, future Health and well being.

I had similar experience with tofu as the doctor had with the steamed broccoli. I was never a fan of tofu but, as a relatively new vegan, I begrudgingly tried tried preparing it following an online recipe for the nutritional purpose. As I was cubing it, I grabbed a piece and popped it in my mouth and actually enjoyed it! Soon I found myself popping a whole lot in my mouth and had to force myself to save some for the recipe. It’s amazing how the taste buds change!

Love you referenced Simnett Nutrition! His channel and Pick Up Limes are some of my favs! I have to do it gradually as I have a newborn and a 3 year old. Husband is on board to make things plant focused too but sleep and time are limited right now!! Love this video ❤

Here is a way to add variety to your salads. I use some of the pureed soups that are in cartons. They do not require cooking, so I add them cold. I then combine with salsa, or fat free dressings, and or mustard. Hummus goes great with salad, especially on toast. Your idea of adding fruit is good too. I especially like oranges for the tang and sweetness to balance the vinegar in dressings. The vitamin C will help absorb any iron in your salad.

This is one of the best basic primers to getting more plants in your diet that I have seen. What I love about your videos is that you don't slam people over the head and try to guilt them about eating meat, it's all about the positivity of getting more whole plant foods in. You're not preachy or judemental. The opposite. Definitely sharing this with all my FB friends in the hopes that some of this message will get through to those who need to hear it most.

Nice you mentioned Derek Simnett. I tried to eat vegetarian couple of times and always had an enormous hunger so I turned back to meat. When I was going vegan cold turkey after seeing The Game Changers I looked out for other vegan sporters, and Derek provided me with some really helping videos.

I’ve got a few good tips that helped this Italian raised “foodie” transition. Choose any local authentic Ethiopian, Asian or Middle Eastern restaurant nearby and try ordering unfamiliar vegetarian or vegan appetizers, sample platters, or entrees. I’m sure I’m missing several, but many countries have absolutely delicious cuisines that already omit animal proteins, or at least meat. However, the descriptions don’t always seem tantalizing…ask for recommendations from the staff if you’re stuck. Once you know the names of the dishes you enjoy, look for a whole food plant based recipe online, or try to convert it yourself.
Homemade cashew cream takes just minutes to make once the raw, unsalted cashews are soaked in water for a few hours. Just drain and blend until creamy. Make it as thick or thin as your recipe needs by adjusting the amount of water.
One more for sausage lovers… find a recipe for your fav sausage - the revision I have of The Joy of Cooking has some, pulse some meaty mushrooms, may throw in a small handful of soft or soaked nuts in your food processor with the spices and sauté together to get a flavorful replacement. It won’t stick together but can be used on pizzas, in pastas, soups, stews, and sautées.
I don’t miss the meat or cheese at all anymore….there was a time I was sure that was an unattainable goal. Good luck!

You're not going to believe this, but I stumbled across your channel just three days ago, NOT because I was looking for anything related to nutrition, but simply because I had a need to learn how to search for scientific papers. One video led to the next. Even though I did NOT have the intention of improving my diet three days ago, because of videos like this one, I decided over the weekend to make three changes to my diet this week: eat more fruit, eat oatmeal for breakfast, and eat at least three vegetarian dinners this week. My aim is to gradually increase the proportion of my diet that is healthy. I find it empowering to know that this process can be as slow and easy as I want it to be. I've found your videos to be a extremely motivating and encouraging, while in my opinion being devoid of the kind of the ideology, spin, and B.S. that always turns me off. Thank you!
