That settings is to correct the ETA and Location accuracy while driving. Unfortunately it will NOT correct the speedometer or the odometer. I’ve verified this with Toyota engineering. It is strictly for travel speed and ETA accuracy in the Nav system.

Wonder if that navigation setting is just resetting the navigation? That way it knows how many miles you have traveled and how close you are to your next exit and so forth. I know it reads the position of the vehicle but maybe it also has tire size to more accurately predict how far exits and roads are.

Toyota should have had a speed calibration where the user would simply input their rim and tire size. They could get it close with a simple calculation.

This procedure does work give it a couple of days I change the tires on my 2016 Tacoma I was showing 2 miles an hour slower than I actually was going now I am back to mobile

Just get a Hypertech speedometer calibrator. It will fix it. I can’t deal with an inaccurate speedo or odometer. I did mine the day I did my tires.

From the factory both my 4Runner and my Tacoma neither the gps and my speedometer ever matched speed, the gps has alway been slower by two mph’s.

Did you check your speedometer calibration before the tire change? Most of my cars would read a 2-4mph higher than my actual speed.

Tire calibration is a bit more involved process. Dealers won't touch it. In fact they will tell you it can't be done. My Tacoma straight out of the box seemed to be 2 to 3 mph off with stock wheels.

Any GPS is going to be slower to respond to changes than your speedometer. Maybe you could set the cruise control and see how the gps corresponds.

Oddly enough, my truck came 1-2 MPH off with stock tires but is dead on with my 1" taller BFGs.

My 2021 does exactly the opposite - the speedo indicates 2-3 mph faster than my actual speed per GPS.

Even if it did work, there is no way it would recalibrate the abs, which in itself, makes a calibrater WELL worth the money in any slippery conditions. FYI
