How to make a Beef Wellington Quickly? 🥩
Ingredients ☘️
1 pound (450g) beef tenderloin (filet mignon), center-cut
Salt and pepper to taste
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 tablespoon butter
1 small onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
8 ounces (225g) mushrooms, finely chopped
2 tablespoons fresh thyme leaves
2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
1 sheet of puff pastry, thawed
1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Instructions ☘️
1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
2. Season the beef tenderloin with salt and pepper on all sides.
3. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over high heat. Sear the beef tenderloin on all sides until browned. Remove from the skillet and set aside to cool.
4. In the same skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook until softened, about 3 minutes.
5. Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional 30 seconds.
6. Add the finely chopped mushrooms and thyme leaves to the skillet. Cook until the mushrooms release their moisture and the mixture becomes dry, about 5-7 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Remove from the heat and let the mixture cool.
7. Once the beef tenderloin and mushroom mixture have cooled, spread a thin layer of Dijon mustard over the beef tenderloin.
8. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the thawed puff pastry sheet to a size large enough to wrap the beef tenderloin.
9. Place the cooled mushroom mixture on top of the mustard-coated beef tenderloin.
10. Carefully wrap the beef tenderloin with the mushroom mixture in the puff pastry, sealing the edges.
11. Brush the entire puff pastry with the beaten egg for a golden finish.
12. Place the Beef Wellington on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
13. Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, or until the puff pastry is golden brown and the beef reaches your desired level of doneness.
14. Remove from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes before slicing.
Beef Wellington is a classic and elegant dish that combines tender beef with savory mushroom duxelles wrapped in flaky puff pastry. It's a show-stopping main course perfect for special occasions or a gourmet dinner. Enjoy your Beef Wellington!
