The biggest irony of the sinking of the Moskva, adding to the symbolism:

It was _built in Ukraine._

So not only was it a massive symbol of Russia losing to Ukraine, even afloat it was a massive symbol of how everything that made Russia 'glorious and prosperous' back in the USSR days _originated in other states of the USSR than Russia._

It gained everything that made it great by basically enslaving other countries, and it lost everything that made it great (such as the Moskva) _because they started resisting._
