This is the 116th episode of Lightroom Quick Tips where I give a quick Lightroom tip.

Sometimes you may find that you need to look at two images simultaneously and survey, compare and reference views don't cut it. In this video, I demonstrate how to open a secondary window with one image that you can use to compare to a second image.

This and future episodes of Lightroom Quick Tips can be viewed here:

Thanks Anthony. Very helpful. Would be good to compare/contrast this tip with the new reference view feature in the develop module in lightroom cc. I forget whether that new feature allows for synched zoom or color sampling.

Thanks so much. Waiting for you to do a Luminar video - hope it's soon. Photoshop too challenging for me.

Nice, and thanks for the tip. I often have my second window casting to my TV (usually so I can watch a YouTube video or tutorial while I work!), so that creates a large second space for the reference image to go to.  Yes, I think there would be other ways to make use of the feature too, but as you say, nothing jumps to mind. Although sometimes I am trying to pick compatible images for use in a series, so could use it then.

Pretty useful tip, thank you. Though, if I have a secondary display and try to replicate a photographer style, I will just open his/her picture in my browser directly and put it on my secondary display, and then open lightroom in my main display. I'm not sure what would be the benefit of saving the image to load it in lightroom when it's already loaded in my browser.

Great info, Anthony. I was just wondering how you get rid of the reference window once you're finished using it?

dan beigal, so he does 160 video tips all for nothing? this is a business model and no should be immune to critics. And who are you dan beigal to be so thin skinned?

you are helpful but waffle on too much. I lost interest. Too many presenters on YT waffle on about trivial and incidental things. e.g you could have said you can resize the secondary display, for the sake of brevity and good manners. But you didn't, you went on and on about window 101.
