This is the 68th episode of Lightroom Quick Tips where I give a quick Lightroom tip.

In this episode I demonstrate how to deal with a picture that is underexposed.

In the video, I mention an article on my website where I wrote about the reasons you may want to purposefully underexpose or overexpose a scene. You can read that article here:

ive been on the fringes of phptography for many years, only getting seriouse over last 3 years using Nikon D3200, now just upgraded to Nikon D7200. I, like perhaps many people, didnt think of Youtube, where I have found your plethera of Light Room torials - just amazing and 'very' helpful. thank you

Another great tip. Many thanks. Your recent tips have got me using the tone curve again - something I had sort of forgotten about!

I have a query, maybe a suggestion for another quick tip: When recovering shadow from underexposed images, I find that there is rather a lot of noise there, more than the rest of the photo. I use a Sony RX100M3 and Canon ESO 600D. Is this sort of noise dealt with on the whole image or can it be 'zoned' into those darker areas?

Anthony, Good day to you! I really learned a lot from your precise tutorials in Lightroom and Photoshop.
How I wish you can also make an in depth tutorial on removing sun and lens flare in Photoshop. Thanks!

Good job Anthony! From my experience exposing too far to the left you might run into all kind of trouble when opening up the shadows, depending on your sensor you could see vertical or horizontal banding. A better solution would be to take bracketed photos.

youre really good! clear and concise, too bad other educators are more interested in racking up likes and subscriptions but have no substance. Glad I ran into your channel

Episode 69: Processing an Overexposed Image? If I shoot 85+ images I always seen to have two or three that are really blown out... Nikon D7000. Do I press the shutter to quickly before the sensor can process the image, if that's possible. Thanks
