Yeah I saw that thing or a guy was using heavy-duty monofilament or fluorocarbon to do this exact same thing. And he was doing it with big worms and big baits that he was sinking the eye of the hook deep down inside of when he was Texas rigging large worms and other big soft plastic baits so that the hook was further down towards the center mass of the lure.

or you can use a spring from a ball point pen.... or any spring at all to make a bait keeper. just open up a pen. cut spring to appropriate size. slide it up towards the eye of the hook. add a drop of super glue and now you have turned regular 4/0 5/0 offset hooks worms hooks into bait keeper hooks!

Use 80# mono instead of the toothpick just cut the mono at an angle so you have a point to push thru the plastic then trim it accordingly....

I wanna try this but I feel like the same thing will happen that always happens, I catch a fish and it just wrecks the top of my brushog (that's my go to bait)

You'll get way less use of of your bait if your on top of a good bite, I mean it seems good for those fish that like to bully your baits, but one big tugg and the butt end is ripping apart instead of sliding down

I don’t have much of a problem of the atom slipping off tbh I feel like that may grab some weeds if u fishinf a weedy bottom or jus area in general but would prob work very well for rocky areas I’d imagine
