It's not the harsh environment that made them tough, it's to do with science long forgotten. Pretty sure it's got to do with their atoms

Humans had the same environment as Giraffes too and we don’t look the same

They’re 100% distant relatives, otherwise there’s no reasonable explanation. Either viltrumites came from humans or vice versa (since there are literal black and white viltrumites). My best theory is that viltrumites came first. Viltrumites were discriminatory to viltrumites that couldn’t fly, or were weak, etc, so this pushed this weaker population to secretly migrate to planet earth. Due to viltrumites ability to procreate with various life forms, the viltrumites had sex with the various monkey/sapien like species at the time. Thus explaining humans existence, meanwhile not contradicting humans genetic relationship to other sapiens on earth. After thousands of years, the viltrumite gene became super thinned out, even though viltrumite genes are strong, this population of viltrumites were much weaker and there were only a small handful. Essentially viltrumites had sex with monkeys, then children eventually looked mostly viltrumite with slight ape features, this new species of half viltrums mingled with other sapiens, as generation passes, viltrumite gene/strength decreases, thus creating humans. This also explains humans like the immortal, who can literally fly, live for a long time, healing factor, durability, just like a viltrumite. Immortal could have dormant viltrumite genes.

No way just “harsh climate” is the reason for the evolution into planet-busting intergalactic creatures💀

superman is from a neighboring galaxy yet martian manhunter is a green shape shifter from a neighboring planet lol

Hello, evolutionary sciences and geology major here

That's not how evolution works

I would be really disappointed if aliens did invade us and they look human with no super powers

Even if they had a similar planet to us, I think looking to the Thraxans is a better example. They look completely different, evolved from insects instead of vertebrates. It just makes more sense that wherever life evolved to our point of intelligence, they wouldn’t look the same. To assume the viltrumites look like us, we have to assume that had the SAME evolutionary path, which I find absurd. The truth is, on planets with a nuturing atmosphere, any relatively intelligent creatures can evolve to the point of sentience. I really hope fiction starts utilizing this fact. Why can’t I have a story about extreme intelligence alien dolphins with their own agenda? Or octopus’? I truly don’t get why the writers are so lazy and just make any alien a human direct copy. Even marvel is guilty of this.

IMHO Viltrumites, Kryptonians, Vulcans and other familiar sci-fi aliens look so human because thwy're all holdovers from the grand old days of planetary romance, when buffed and chiseled heroes might be captured by sumptuously voluptuous Martian princesses eager to learn about this strange Earthian thing called sex.

I rest my case their just better versions of humans

Honestly valid argument, it does make sense… for most races, what about Sayians then?

In a near infinite universe, or even the vastness of a single galaxy, it’s really not THAT hard to believe that convergent evolution would produce aliens that at least vaguely resemble us.

Evolve 😅😅😅 I didn't know they had the same viltrumite chimpanzees

Actually whether you believe in God or attribute everything to evolution it makes sense.

God: Design choice and preferences

Evolution: Convergent evolution. Meaning things evolve the way they look based on physics not some randomizer

I believe it's simply because of a coincidence since it's said that Viltrum is located in a different galaxy than ours, also the humanoid form is almost perfect when it comes to a modern society (look at thraxans, unopians, etc), so is not weird that they had evolved like they did as they're mammals who have probably evolved from an equivalent of earth apes.

It's simply because if they're human you can sympathize/understand them better than if they looked like eldritch horrors. Same reason why even more different aliens still look humanoid, like Chewbaca, Yoda, Alan, etc etc
