I have a Dalmatian for 7 years Hailey from 2015, she died in June 2022. I adopted her when she was 4 years old.
I got a new Dalmatian puppy on 4th Sept 2023. Happiest day ever!
He is such a good boy! I take him for walks twice a day, everyday. He is out of the house 4 hours a day everyday.
Know that if you get a Dalmatian you will be out of your house for hours a day and if you're not able to do that for your dog please get a different breed ❤

hiking an hour a day still isnt enough for my Dalmatian ... OMG the shedding, so true about the hairs locking themselves in fabric

My dalmatian was the hardest dog I've ever had, first year was really rough, but... I don't regret it one bit, she was also the best dog I've ever had, miss her every day. 3 years later I still find dalmatian hair every now and then around the house.

You are absolutely RIGHT 💯 Had a dalmation named Doug for 14 years. Beautiful dog, a lot of work....

Oh yeah, they go really well with horses too. Right next to my home there is a hippdrom and they have a couple of Dals there. They thrive in that environment. Great running buddies :)

I have two dalmatians and yes they are fruit loops. Great video. One of mine likes his own space and she just wants to sit on your knee. They definitely need lots of exercise. They are well behaved if walked. If they don't get enough exercise they get bored and tend to chew anything. They are foodies . Mine get carrots for treats. Totally agree they are stubborn. Hair they shed all year, I joke you could make a small child's jumper every evening from their hair. My car has fitted covers on all the seats and a dog car cover and the hair still gets everywhere. Perfect pets. If you don't work more than a few hours aday. Have places to let them off lead and don't have small children or elderly in house, they are very very strong dogs and will pull or knock you over. Extremely friendly. Just love mine.

Same with children when it comes to exercise. Enough exercise and outside time is good for the living body. Whether it’s an animal or human ❤️

Looks to me like Tux is a lucky dog. I really appreciated your honesty. I was considering getting a Dalmation. I realize now that there would be a huge energy mismatch between me and a Dalmation, and that would not have worked well for me or the dog, so thank you for your video and your candor.

No disrespect, but it seems you are impatient and you are too busy for him?! I have owned 7 Dalmatians from pup to grown and you need to imprint on him! He is looking for a pack leader, so you have to show dominance, and this means don't be mean, abusive, instead lay down the rules for your space and work, and then let him know what his rules are for his space and time. They love lots of attention, so give it to him, treats, smiles and just good energy. Then take him on long walks, jogs, I even took mine to a fenced football field with one gate, so you can really watch him and let him run, after the release of running and energy daily, he ll be a calmer Dalmatian and relax. Pent up energy is gonna be a problem if he don't get it out! Swimming works well with them too, they are great swimmers and that will tire him out too. Just spend all the time you can with him, plenty of exercise and a great low purine diet, will be the best for you and him. They live between 11-13 years so enjoy him and as for the shedding, just the only bad thing about Dalmatians, so get a good broom! Hope it works out, good luck and God Bless!

My uncle had a Dal, he was awesome. He used to get the energy out of him my taking him to the field by a car, dropping him out and then hitting the gas pedal. He’d run behind the car until he got it out of his system. Dals used to run behind carriages so it was natural for him.

Your dog is beautiful. I had 2 female Dalmatians that lived to 14 years old each. I also have had labs and a corgi.

The way I got the dals tired out was to hook them up on a bicycle and ride around the neighborhood. This can be done fairly easily in a suburban or country environment. I could ride with both at once. Everyday for 30-45 min. Weekends I took them somewhere off leash for longer exercise sessions which was fun for me and a part of my lifestyle. For example we went off leash at the beach in the very early mornings.

Once I had a child, the last one was almost 10 and starting to slow down. And labs are a better choice for me now.

I really miss those years with the Dalmatians. I think I could have one again one day and use my lab as a mentor dog. The dals stuck together and I think a dal puppy would bond pack-wise with a lab and that could be a good combo. (Maybe;)

I’m 4 weeks in and this is thoroughly accurate. The combination of intelligence, presence, need for attention, mental and physical energy requirements all add up to a huge and ever present job. I’m thinking about getting another dog so that I’ll have someone else to split the burden with. He’s so endearing but it’s quite a full time relationship.

Bahahahahaha. Go get ‘em Tux! 😂. You show the folks what Spotties are really like. I’m on my fifth Dally and actually love their craziness but you are SO right! Interactive exercise is a MUST or they will be destructive (and a pest).

I grew up with a Dal. He had free range of 80 acres. He would be gone for hours doing dog stuff. He was really cuddly, but he ran and hunted as much as he wanted. He liked all of us but he loved my mom. He wasn’t always velcroed to her but he kept an eye on her and if she left the room, he would follow. Beware of the hair, it is like quills, it will get embedded in your clothes, furniture, carpet. I found dal hair in clothes 5 years after I moved out of home.

Iv had my boy for 14 years now... even though he is a old guy and still the sweetest gentleman I used to have aggression issues with men (he is a rescue)... once we got into a better routine I started learning how to introduce people to him without overwhelming and stressing him out... even then they are still the best family fun guard dogs. Training was not really that hard... it just needs gentle reputation. However if you cannot be firm and remain gentle this is not the dog for you

You and Tux are adorable. I have an Argentina Dogo, they are high energy and stubborn. They are also the most loving dog we ever had. I am her person.

We have her around our grandchildren all the time. We did it slowly and made sure to supervise. Especially with the little one. Also age will help.

She is very protective. She doesn’t like other female dogs. Sounds like you are handling him correctly. My opinion is he looks for your approval with strangers instead of his approval.

Just found your channel. Loving it. ❤

Omg i have the exact same experience with 2 year old dal!! My dal is scared of strangers and is not good with people approach him on the street. Where it is scary and stressful! I have to tell people to ignore my dal when they first meet him and then he warms up to people.
