thank u for sharing this! amidst the wisdom he imparts, I have to say I hear what sounds like typical socialist propaganda about a "war on social safety nets". I've only ever heard that phrase as a lament that limiting or removing government control over social arenas such as healthcare and education and such is abandoning the less fortunate. The US was founded on the principle of limited State power, and arenas like healthcare and education and charity in general were left to Civil Society. Civil Society, the realm of voluntary diverse associations and institutions, venerable and ancient. Sadly, progressives seek to redefine Civil Society as some social darwinist 'private sector' where the benevolent hand of government has yet to impose 'equity'. Give me a break, socialized medicine always hands a monopoly to big pharma and socialized education always hands a monopoly to the purveyors of materialist scientism. Around the year 1900, before the progressive era, 1 in 4 americans were in a mutual aid association and the number was growing, meaning diverse insurance solutions independent of State control, and voluntary charity was vast, as it is today. The founding principle of Liberty means freedom to create and pursue our own solutions! Problems are a given in this world, and the entire magic of life is in the realm of solutions. Progressives point to problems as justification to deprive people liberty to their own voluntary personal and group solutions. Those who oppose giving the State power to dictate it's so-called 'solutions' are always attacked by progressives as anti-charity and anti-safety net. Sorry to rant, I do appreciate the many great insights in this interview.
