I feel like I'm the only (Young) gen z person who doesn't follow trends and only now uses social media such as YouTube as a tool. I'm not sure if anybody feels the same way but I'd rather be myself instead of becoming like these other bad influencers and celebrities that don't have anything good to offer. (Not all celebrities are like this but a lot of the new ones are) I don't seek fame, popularity, or money but I do seek respect and knowledge. And yes, people are fake unfortunately due to there self esteem and ego. It doesn't matter if you are a man or a woman, everyone has there insecurities but we can work together and become caring and considerate human beings to make this world better.


(I also deleted Tiktok years ago so that I wouldn't become like every other teen bot that speaks in slang or whatever it is they do)

Another thing to note is the ‘crazy advice’ and ‘happiness’ channels. At night, to wind down I transition to Youtube. Whilst there are wonderful informative channels like this, I have recently noticed this infatuation with self-motivation, unrealistic advice, and girl-bossing on Youtube. It is like an entire competition and rat race. I didn't ask for this. I actually just want nothing more than peace! ❤I love Youtube though so so much though genuinely!

I like how you tied in the quote from Kafka, it's good to remember that we can learn from the past to have some perspective on current issues.

The advice I give friends struggling with excessive social media use is that they shouldn't feel so bad about their addiction. In some ways a social media company is no different than a tobacco or alcohol company, spending millions of dollars to find out how to extract money out of the consumer the best way. With the amount of resources and research these companies do, the odds are stacked against young people, who do not even get proper education in social media use most of the time. Maybe we need to hold parents more accountable for making sure their kids don't get addicted?
