IP MAN (Grandmaster Donnie Yen Defeats Japanese General)

In 1935 in Foshan, south China, there are martial arts schools on every street corner. Ip Man is the undisputed martial arts champion, yet he has not devoted himself to teaching. Despite this, it seems that all the kung fu masters of the city are eager to fight him to improve their reputation.

Ip Man's producers and director Wong Kar-wai clashed during production over the movie's working title. When Wong learned that the title of the producers' film, Grandmaster Ip Man (Chinese: ), was too similar to the title of his own Ip Man biography, he got into an argument with them. Ip Man's producers consented to the title change despite the fact that Wong's movie was stuck in development. The Grandmaster, a movie directed by Wong, was released on January 10, 2013.

The first movie in the Ip Man series is titled Ip Man. It had its world premiere on December 10 in Beijing before getting a theatrical release on December 19 in Hong Kong. Both reviewers and viewers praised it highly.
