International megastar Donnie Yen reprises his iconic role as the real-life kung fu grandmaster Ip Man in this martial arts spectacular. After escaping the Japanese occupation of his hometown, Ip Man and his family have arrived in Hong Kong, which is living under the iron fist of British colonial rule.

Ip wants to support his family by opening up a martial arts academy to teach his unique Wing Chun style. But a corrupt cabal of Hong Kong martial arts masters, led by Hung Chun-nam (the legendary Sammo Hung), refuses to allow Ip to teach until he proves himself- and prove himself he does, in an intense series of fights against the masters, showcasing a dazzling variety of martial arts styles and culminating in a highly anticipated brawl between Ip and Hung atop a rickety table.

Even after gaining the respect of the masters, Ip's troubles are far from over. I saw the first IP man movie online either Hulu or Crackle. Amazing fight choregraphy and a nice script. The thing that makes this movie really great is that the main character IPman was the guy who taught kung fu to the greatest fighters who ever lived BRUCE LEE. Thanx for producing a great sequel both of these movies now have a place of honor in my home Dvd

ive seen prob around 1000 movies (mostly martial arts) and ip man series are on top 10 :) love it!

@VarianceFilms idk then, it felt like a long time ago. I watched it probably around the time it was in theater's in Japan. It was in Japanese but had English subtitles.

@AvatarKid4 The first Ip Man movie with Donnie Yen had much more emotion than this one did. This one still had it's moments of emotion but the first one was better. Also Jet Li's Fearless FTW!

The first movie is EXCELLENT. This one looks a bit cartoon like (fighting on a balanced table top...WTF?). I can see it now, by the 3rd movie he'll be catchin' bullets with his teeth.

I'll skip this one and just watch the first movie again.
