Decatur sheep dog goes missing after fending off coyote attack, returns home days later

Casper is recovering after coyotes ganged up on the dog. They fought up and down the street and went missing for days. Two days later, he returned home.

Not only is the farmer, his sheep, and his dog okay,
but the surplus donations given to him are being used on future pups in need because of the dog's heroic actions.
He really is a guardian dog. Saving more than just his flock's life.

People raise so much money that there's leftovers to help other animals that don't have the same amount of headline attention. <3

I love my dogs and spent $5, 000, without hesitation, on one of my dogs who needed surgery. Vet costs are out of control and if your vet recommends a specialist or vet hospital, get out your credit card! There is something wrong in the USA and other countries when it comes to excessive vet costs and medications. I know becoming a veterinarian is expensive and staff need to be paid, etc., but let’s be reasonable. It has gotten so ridiculous, many animals suffer because the owners can’t afford to take their pets to the vet for annual exams, shots, treatment or surgery. Veterinarians always say they became vets to help animals...but that's hypocritical and counter-productive when an animal is denied care due to their $$$$ costs.

I find it a bit disturbing that you couldn't grab a rifle/shotgun and pursue your dog as he fought off and was engaged with hostiles, I have goats and two border collies that often engage with coyotes and hold their own but when needed get 100% help from me in a blink of an eye.Your dog deserved better, sorry for him he did what he could do by himself.

The poor dog probably though he was a goner and did what most dying animals do, go hide and hunker down out of sight and pass on but after going to sleep and waking up so many days he probably thought im alive still?!?! it’s time to get help, I’m still here but hurtin bad and showed sought his master out. Brave dog, hope he heals up well and takes it easy.
