The most beneficial reason to go plant based is to reduce your carbon footprint, to end the barbaric practices of animal agriculture and to make a real difference regarding the health of our planet. I think if you did want to perform at the top 90%, you're already committed enough to make the necessary planning to ensure all macronutrient targets are achieved. You can also increase your life expectancy as another added bonus, as stated. If this diet was more widely used around the world you'd find that not only would the science and research increase, but food companies could see profit in bringing higher quality products that have better micronutrients which would solve the only real criticism that Lane made regarding the diet.


Laynes obviously not out to demonize plant based diets here, his point about 'don’t try and distort the science to fit your personal beliefs' is clearly the biggest issue regarding any diet.

People are trying to argue with a man who has a P.H.D. In nutrition sciences. F. Y.I. Vegans (and I am one), layne Norton is more knowledgeable in the field of nutrition than both Arnold Schwarzenegger and James Cameron. What could he have possibly said in this video that set a trigger off in all of you?

I've been a vegetarian since I was a teenager and as I transitioned into powerlifting I really began to question if I needed animal products to be successful. Years later I still haven't consumed meat however I do believe that my performance would be enhanced if I consumed animal products. But my morals have kept me from going back to meat and I've come to terms that while my nutrition is pretty good, if would improve with animal products. If you don't consumed animal products it should be based off of morals and values and nothing to do with health. Both can be healthy

Why are all the vegans freaking out? Layne did not disagree with anything. Watch the video again you lunatics. He respectfully took a high ground and said you CAN lead a healthy life consuming a plant based diet. He also said you do not need to ONLY eat a plant based diet in order to have a healthy life. His videos like this are clear that he is not biased because he takes all perspectives into consideration. Again, to you crazy vegans, stop being disrespectful because he literally agreed with your beliefs in the video.. He only brought up some of the challenges in doing so.

You need to do more research on this film and the athletes in this film your Wong. There are athletes in this film tut have never ate meat. Do your research!

What plant food is devoid of some essential amino acid? I've not seen data to suggest a lower amino acid profile showing less benefit in terms of building muscle.

Arnold got scared cause of his first heart attack so now he is advocating about vegetarian life and making extra money on the way. Not to mention that he won his competition eating 14 eggs per day during traning

I think in the future they will test for performance differences on different eating patterns. I hope you make another review after watching the film.


From what I’ve seen there are a few benefits for bloodflow, antioxidant levels, food safety and cutting out dairy has a great benefit to a large percentage of the population for digestion.

Of course for someone who is new to the diet it isn’t easy and a bit less practical but that factor goes away after a few weeks or months of practice.


You are just begging the question that the optimal diet for health and longevity and for athletic performance don’t entirely overlap without providing evidence here.

It is interesting to think about to say the least :).
