I started listening to Pastor John's sermons twice daily for over a year during an extremely hard time in my life. I am still not out of the woods yet due to chronic pain and health issues, but now I have a sure foundation under my feet and am no longer dangling off the edge of a cliff. Thank you, Pastor John, and thank you, DesiringGod, for your faithful ministry.

I think that God finds a way of teaching those who press into His Word and it is a gift. Sometimes I say "the Bible is beautiful, if only you let it speak to you". I don't have anywhere near the level of experiences Pastor John has had, but I can relate to what He's saying. Something that continues to help me as I try teach my kids: make God the centre of all the text you read, and He will show you marvellous things in His word that will keep you rooted in Him.

Psalm 119 is so rich in wisdom and instruction. Verse 97 does make sense in the context of John Piper's ministry. I found this to be true in its effect on my life when I was put in a situation for an extended time where was I denied access to teaching materials and good teaching. The word itself with the understanding given by the Holy Spirit will in the long run always be the best instructor in moving your life further into wisdom and sanctification. Verses 65-72 are my favorite passage in this psalm, especially verse 71 - "It is good for me that I was afflicted, that I might learn your statutes. "

If a man wants to do good, but he found himself doing bad, paul says its not he who do it, but sin which dwells in his flesh {ROM 7:20}. Christ paid this flesh's sin's cost, death. The person who trust in Jesus, can he really can die, by the sins of his flesh? Why more warning on sins of the flesh? Is not it paid all fully by Jesus?
