ABOUT A TO ZEN LIFE
Along my journey to let go of 30 years of clutter, I accidentally became a minimalist and it was life-changing.

Before, I was an emotional hoarder with nothing but the clutter from lost loved ones — and $25,000 of debt — to my name. Now I have a beautiful home in Europe, a happy family, live debt-free, and — best of all — wake up to a life that I’m EXCITED to live every day.

I grew up with a shopoholic mom who would "save" money by going to every sale. It's a mindset I've have to make an effort to unlearn. I hope your kids realize how blessed they are to have you for a mom 🥺

I once saw a comment from someone saying their mom's common expression was, "We're too poor to buy cheap!" and I have totally stowed that away for moments when I'm tempted to go for a sale I should not be entertaining!

I love your humour 😂, trying to be so serious must have been a real challenge for you while you were filming this " making of" socks coffee☕🧦😋 ...🙃
This whole frugality and money thing has never been something I liked to think, talk or plan about..BUT since I found your channel, it is beginning to change🎉
The way you talk about it with all your realistic advices and stories makes it even kind of enjoyable for me now to approach this "money subject" from a different point of view. THANKS MARISSA 🙏😊

Goodness.. gasoline is 6:59- 6.89 in San Francisco Bay Area - to your point, driving to and shopping at multiple places can be more expensive (especially now) so I try to combine my errands and practice “one stop shopping” to simplify, save time, and money. Your channel is such a great fit for me- thank you❣️

The just in case is so difficult. I have to remember God will continue blessing us with work. We will be able to afford a new shirt; I don't need to hoard!

One thing I struggle with is buying enough to get free shipping, even though i only need one thing.

$6.80 for premium in the Bay Area, California- it’s nuts! We’ve been wanting to bike more, this is definitely encouraging us to now.

Good evening, i live in south of France, completely agree with the fact that money may be a drug if we don't have control in it, we may lose everything, money is the fuel of your live, not be thrown out a window 😉

I love the shot of your son in the luggage. 😊. Here, gas is $ 2.16 Cdn/litre (I’ll figure out what that is in US$/gal and I’ll repost here -> about $4.50 US/gallon?).
My mom decided to free the cost of boarding her dog by having my husband and I dog-sit while she took a trip to Florida. Her dog dug up our Japanese maple tree AND left behind flees in the house!! It cost US a crazy amount to replace the tree and try and get the flees out of the house. On top of this, we had huge vet fees because we found out our cat has a weird skin condition that was exacerbated by the flees. However, we never asked Mom for a penny and she never offered to reimburse us. What are kids for, right?!?

Great video! All the stuff I do to 🙂.

I've been watching Gabe for years...more recently discovered you.. great that you did a collaboration.

I just made headboards for my bed from the first wooden shelves I bought when I moved to Germany to study 27yrs ago.

I found a solid wood TV side board on the road (free to take) that is the same wood as all my furniture.. and works perfectly for my printer and home office storage. I had been looking for something, but didn't want to waste money on anything. Also I found a solid wood table which we use in the garden when BBQing. I only take solid wood, glass or mental things.. never soft furnishings due to the hygiene issue.

I am still using 1970s Tupperware which my mother bought and then gave me some to start my food storage at Uni... I added more Tupperware when I got married.. it never needs replacing and has a life garentee.

Clothes I wear and still have are over 30yrs old... I don't spend more than 100€ a year on clothes. My kids are using blankets and other stuff from my childhood.

I always keep a list of things I want and another list of things I need.. when out if I see it on sale I get it.

For shopping with a list.. i only..
fridge shop 1x fortnight
Freezer shop 1x month
Dry goods/personal hygiene and house supplies 1x every 3 mths

I keep things if they don't stress me and I know what I want to use it for.. as a single working mum alone abroad I know it can take months or years until I get around to something.. but I just store the item until I have time.. as long as it has a home and does not stress me.

I only spash on making memories through experiences and holidays with my kids... but to do that I also save for it.

Thank you for another great video! I live in Northern NJ, just 1.5 miles from the NYS border. Gas prices here in NJ are $4.95 for regular and over the border in NY the gas is $5.10. Thank you very much for all of your great advice and tips💕

Grand Rapids, Michigan (Hello from the Mitten State!) We are up to $5.19/gallon! Unbelievable!
So this happened...I repainted my bedroom (it's been ... 15 years? maybe longer lol!) So of course I had to tear everything apart. I ended up filling the back of my Kia Soul! (ok I had some recycling and some items from other parts of the house. But still!!!) It's amazing how much MORE crap we can get rid of if we really put our minds to it!
