When I go out to eat, I always look at the meal and see if I can eat half and bring half home for another meal.

I like how you separate the cost of groceries from the expense of going out to eat. Also, I had no idea there was such a thing as a shampoo bar! You're amazing.

I always make sure the products I use last and that they're environmentally friendly. That shampoo bar would be a lifesaver! Great points!

I agree with you that going out to eat does not work adding to groceries, because it is not essential, it is a " luxury", not necessary to survive.

I don't think that is weird at all, we only shop once a week, so basically we have a no spend week every week. We definately batch all of our errands, it saves your head space also by getting things off of the to-do list. Loved the video

Take the crumbs from the bottom of chip bagels like Doritos or barbeque flavored chips and mix with a little bread crumbs to coat chicken for baking. It's awesome! 😋

I save all the crusts from bread, make into breadcrumbs and freeze so I always have a good supply for when needed. Thanks for all the good advice Kate x

There's quite a lot of companies here in the UK that make shampoo bars. We use one made by a company in our own city, the scent is called "Yorkshire goddess", and it's jasminey.
We also use dish soap in bar form and partner uses conditioner bars.
Your revisiting this question makes me think how it would be good to see a video of frugal habits you've changed your mind about in the past couple of years. Things you thought you would never do, but are now on board with, or things you used to do but don't anymore. Xx

I haven't bought trash bags in years, I use all the grocery bags for my trash. It's a little harder now since most places have ditched the plastic, but I just double the paper bags and put them in the trash container under my sink.

My favourite frugal habit is line drying, because we don't have a dryer. I live near an Aldi and I can't leave there without a couple of tubes of their super cheap fake Pringles... We call them "Prongles" because they are like Pringles but they're a bit wrong.

My must have at Aldi is hazelnut chocolate. Chocolate makes me happy!

Great video! Shampoo bars usually have oil as the base so you aren’t off in saying your hair feels a tad “slick”. It takes a bit for hair and scalp
to adjust but shampoo bars can actually eliminate conditioner and another plastic bottle in landfill!

Current frugal hack is no spend days and Jan! Also currently listening to this on headphones cleaning the fridge and going through my pantry to prepare for shopping in 2 days on Friday. Shopping one day a week only, keeping a list for next Friday. You’ve taught me so much!

An organised plan made during my weekend, including a mealplan (breakfast lunch and dinner) and a grocerylist all adapted to that weeks agenda makes a great diffence for me. Monday is shopping day too and when I come back from the stores I track my costs in my budget immediately and than no more worries about it for the rest of the week🛒💻🧮👍👌

I actually took some Asian cooking classes at a couple cooking schools that taught me how to make a couple dishes that I crave regularly from restaurants. It allows me to make it the way I like and save money. Last night I made a Panang curry that was so good. I added a ton more shiitake mushrooms and subbed out snow peas for the long green beans, added extra fish sauce, extra shrimp and curry paste…etc. Even After adding all the extras, it fed 3 adults and we had leftovers for 1/4 the price it would have cost to go out. I also buy some types veggies at the Asian markets, which cuts the price. We took a dim sum and dumpling class to that was fun and we use those skills to make both at home too. The classes were a bit of an expense, but they have more than paid for themselves in the money we’ve saved by not going out to eat.
