I love that you recommended to block the punch with elbows and then run! That is some real advice there!

I have used straightforward Wing Chun punches to the chest before in a real fight, it works perfectly as the opponent is expecting big telegraphed punches so if you do short sharp punches straight from the hips they don't see them coming.

Like the concepts; however, it would be beneficial to show these techniques against a fighter at full speed and power.

i like that run technique against a big opponent. nobody gets hurt nobody goes to jail.

Very well done, Mr. Kevin Lee, in terms of reminding the levels, which I recommend to have more emphasized:
Beginners, as you know for sure, are on the receiving end, have to ensure passive defence, safe blocks, first,
-Intermediate practitioners can see the hit arriving, so they able move first to the side and then block better,
-Advanced can be recommended to do counteractions, but in my opponion, blocks and thrughs wiil do, at first.
Hits, if tnot done properly, weekly, may raise anger on the part of the agressor!
What I liked is to saying to run away after a block, or tossing from the side, Paul, 67, retired instructor of M Arts.

Great drill and good straight forward instruction. I like the blend of the WC engine with the FMA engine. From the WC side I see emergency techniques from Bil Ji. Not necessarily the first best thing to do but nevertheless effective. At an advanced level as you master the Bil Ji form, the movements become “ liquefied”. Eventually all Circular and linear elbow strikes and blocks emerge for formless application such as demonstrated in this excellent video.

Very practical drill. Its very effective in close hand combat based on the way elbows are put forward in defence variations. Thanks Lee for the tutorials.

Integration of different fighting styles in a seamless practical application! Keep it coming Kevin! As a noob FMA student here in PI makes me proud.

One of my favorite counters. Keep up the good work.

I’d like to learn this personally. I believe it to be accurate especially understanding the arts generally.

Downward elbow destruction onto opponent's fist seems rather difficult to pull off. It seems like you chase the opponent's punch.
The other elbow destruction make more sense since it more like just have a on guard boxing position that shift slightly. It already happens (sort of) in regular boxing (ie foreman's cross guard). There is no punch chasing, it just happens when opponent hits your elbow as a good accident for you.

I have been teaching Wing Chun for years now and I love to see the concept being brought in as a "drill", but then being expanded on for practical usage.

I used to block the straight right with my left elbow a lot when I boxed. It came pretty natural.

Here's a fun way to get used to seeing full-power techniques coming at you, from Soo Bahk Do Moo Duk Kwan. When doing drills (not free sparring) we measure our distance so our techniques stop a fraction of an inch off of the target on our training partner and we throw every technique with full power. This not only teaches you what it looks like to have that coming at you, it teaches what it looks like to throw at another human as well as the amount of both precision and technical control. One of the biggest problems sport artists have is not realizing that you have to actually learn techniques in a controlled environment before you can effectively use them. You all do the exact same thing when learning new techniques in BJJ or new punch angles in boxing. Those theories don't work either if you don't put the time into practicing them. Those practitioners need to stop being so insecure and go be happy with their ring sports.
