Great video Bob. I have to admit, I haven't done stick since I was in HS and as an engineer now, I never have had a reason to. I have a home shop and only use mig and tig. I will say though, after watching all these videos lately of stick. I am thinking I am going to order up some flat stock and spend some time in the garage burning rods to put some of this to practice. Never know when it might come in handy. Thanks again!

I know you're based in the states but I would love to see you do the CWB 3/8" Plate test with .035 mig on mild steel. Square one side and 30 degree beveled on the other with a 1/2" gap, a 1/4" backer and a stop and start on both root passes.

Could anybody please help me to understand, why he doesn't talk about the base metal specification and grade?
Is there anything that explain the base metal just by knowing the electrod?

Bob can you tell us about your fume extractor, it’s really quite and seems to come by it self when you start welding-your videos are great

Bob, I have a silly question: why are pipe root welds done with 6010 DC instead of AC (with appropriate electrode, 6011 or 6013) so that you wont get arc blow and problems with favoring one side your videos are the best Bob :D

Bob, You just drag 6010 instead of whip & pause ?
