Global Extinction: How Long Do We Have Left?

In the last 500 million years, five mass extinctions, known as the Big Five, have nearly annihilated life on Earth. But according to the National Academy of Sciences, the Sixth Mass Extinction has already begun. It started in the middle of the 20th century, during a period called the Great Acceleration. From pollution to the rapid increase in carbon dioxide emissions, humans have severely impacted the Earth. Can we work against the tide of destruction?

For me, three factors make a great documentary:
- proper narrator tone of voice
- images accurately following and actually depicting the commentary instead of being an awkward collage of loosely related clips (I'm looking at you Arvin Ash)
- doesn't smell like a layman hit up wikipedia and made a script without having the first idea how to check any of the information for validity

It’s so sad that we’ve seen our imminent doom on the horizon for decades, and with both eyes open, decided that wider margins for shareholders was more important. We are like cockroaches though. I suspect we could probably survive at least to the end of the century, and possibly the next, but mass global civilization starts its decline today. It’s such a shame. We could’ve been something really beautiful, but instead we chose this.

As of 2022, global average temps are 1.8 deg C higher than baseline. The IPCC did not tell you that they kept moving the goalposts. First the baseline was 1770's, then they changed to 1850's, then early 1900's, The actual increase from 1770's is over 2 deg C.
Human habitat and the ability to grow, store, and transport food is now being destroyed by drought, fires, and severe weather. Large vertebrate mammals like humans are usually the first to go extinct during mass extinctions. With the world's government not doing anything to reduce emissions and with 99% of people clinging to denial and self deception, it is extremely unlikely humanity will survive another 3 years. Once the Arctic sea ice disappears completely (projected to occur in 2023)...humans won't be far behind. This is a time to live with urgency, get your affairs in order, and stay close to your loved ones. Soon you won't be here...no one will. Humans destroyed everything with their greed, narcissism, lack of morals and ethics, and with their abject stupidity and inability to protect Life.
