We'll be posting short-form videos like this from time to time but if you are looking for longer-form content from the Eons team, don't worry! We're still posting our normal YouTube videos (a new one will be up next week!) and you can also check out "Eons: Mysteries of Deep Time" wherever you get your podcasts!

As a student I was thriving on whatever was available to eat and I could tolerate breathing heavily polluted air (smoking was socially acceptable). Hibernation worked till more or less 11 AM.

Between 50 and 60 ºC on land and up to 40ºC in the oceans.

Would I have survived the great dying? Hell no, the internet went out for 5 hours a few nights ago and I just laid down and cried.

I wasn't there, but my ancestors survived the great dying just fine!

0:33 It might've been between 50 and 60 degrees Celsius on land and up to 40 degrees in the oceans.

I'm stealing "On a scale from dead to thriving, ya'd probably be dead"

Me, a Celsius user: I wonder how hot that is cuz I have absolutely no reference point

Considering it's literally called the "great DYING", and it killed 70% of land species (which I am), I'm fairly certain I won't even leave a skeleton behind for paleontologists to find.

Jokes on you, I love sleeping, burrowing and eating whatever trash I can find.

To be fair, I don't think I'd survive the Permian even before everybody started dying.

I'm barely surviving this afternoon and you want me to survive a mass extinction event???!!

Less immediately dead than after the chixulub meteor but considering this lasted thousands of years, I'm not sure it's much better

So you're saying there's a chance...

Could you please include the centigrade or metric alternatives to Fahrenheit and imperial measures? I'm aware this is an American channel but I'm sure a lot of other non-Americans also love to learn about paleontology! Just a number on screen or something would be really nice!

When the going gets tough, the tough get going! So, no, I probably wouldn't have survived.

I would have stayed in my nice comfy space station! With its time machine and frozen yogurt dispenser.

It doesn't take a mass extinction for me to be closer to dead than thriving.

What are all those temperatures in Celsius? (The entire world other than the US is asking)
