Thank you for pointing out that you can be an empath but have narcissistic tendencies. You can be haughty or pretentious or whatever, but still have empathy for other people. Other channels and even mental health professionals tend to neglect this fact. Having certain character flaws does not make you a narcissist. Having a history of certain undesirable character traits that span over the majority one one's life can and usually does mean you have a narcissistic personality disorder.

Thank you for covering this, apparently new "syndrome". What you've shared here indicates that there are new "terms" being created for the same things that you have been educating people about for a good number of years. In my opinion, the DSM lists are exhaustive as it is but more needs to be done to expand on the narcissistic aspects of human behaviours in the DSM, using HG's expertise on the subject, better still, to acknowledge his work as the best available. 💟

Thanks. I had never heard of "Main Character Syndrome" - another one that dilutes the idea of what a narcissist is in reality.
(At first when I read the title of your video, I thought you were going to talk about the idea that the narcissist travels through life with their own movie soundtrack playing in their head.)

Thank you, HG. The fact that all these alternative names, for certain things, arise, is IMO that someone wants to become famous for 'researching' and commenting on them. Like this author, however, they often have no idea!

WHHOOTT!!!! Our Glorious Narrator is being modest. I expect HG has actually produced over 5000 videos with his first channel included.

IPPS (Intimate Partner Primary Source) = Series regular?
IPSS (Intimate Partner Secondary Source) = Side character?
SIPPS (Shelf Intimate Partner Secondary Source) = Recurring character?
DLS (Dirty Little Secret) = Cameo?
Tertiary = Background/Extra?

This term is strange, as I would hope that I wouldn’t have someone else be the main character in my own life.

Thank You HG, for your advice; unfortunately I found it AFTER the fact. One of my favorites is 'facade management'

Narcissist= grandiossity, sense of entitlement, not empathy and lack of accountability. Control, fuel, carácter traits and residual benefits

I think the biggest red flag that gets missed is what happened in their childhood. My ex came from a chaotic background which stemmed from his parents divorce when he was 6 yrs old. He and his sister were pawns in the acrimonious divorce and consequently, were forced to take part in two blended families when both parents moved on to new people who had families of their own. Right there and then the narcissist was created. My ex has an M.O. that, beginning with me 15 yrs ago (we lasted 12 yrs) he chooses partners that are much older than him. So, now I’m guessing he needs a woman to replace the mother that was emotionally unavailable to him when he was a small boy. He left me (vanished) for someone else who was also considerably older than him with sons who are not much older than him. She was his manager at the time, and not long after he got a promotion at work. No prizes for guessing reason there why he dumped me. He hoovered me a couple of months ago (after 2 yrs apart) I told him to go and concentrate on his relationship with her. I have no idea why she’s not living up to expectations - the substitute mother, a great job, her own place. What does this guy want for God’s sake? I told him I “wish them well!” 😂😂😂

I always liked thinking I was my own protagonist in the story of my life. Kinda like seeing my life as like a video game, idk just think it’s cool

This one explains why so many of the people who dwell on their experiences with depression don’t seem to want to get past it.

I have hope that one day NPD will be better known & understood & quite frankly exposed. But unlike other mental health problems that are now better understood I tend to think it may never be understood on a grand scale due to people just seeing this as a flippant thing of vanity & self absorbed behaviour. I also think the human race as a whole is narcissistic & the myth that humanity is good is just that a Myth. I don’t mean that in some bitter crazy way, just simply look at the history & current behaviour of humans. This is why I prefer dogs 😮😅

Looking back, I once had someone tell me who all the “characters” were in their life when drunk. They were the main character, their partner the love interest, I was the sidekick best friend (yes seriously used that term lol) and there were some other love interests thrown in. Their ex was the villain and their family was “the family” basically of the MC. Now, this person is likely a narcissist that I’m no longer involved with, so I don’t know if this was said just because they were drunk. Or if the drink just revealed things they already thought.

I was accused of copying them and of jealousy, simply for things that were coincidental e.g. buying a similar pair of shoes online when I never knew what shoes they were also purchasing at the same time. I suppose as the “sidekick” it was my role to copy them right? 😂 How funny!

I find this magical thinking very interesting, I do like to day dream a happy ending, but would never expect others to join in this fantasy in real life. I dread to think how many hours I’ve wasted in my head. Would be interested to hear more on why we do this, what it means and how we can maybe stop or reduce our tendency for spending our time on this.

Legacy cornerstone, yes indeed. Next time I talk to my soon-to-be 16y/o son, I'll be asking him what of this he has observed on the tiktok... and also what, if anything, he knows of Andrew Tate. Thank you for your excellent work and all that....
But seriously.
