hi guyssss thanks for watching the video and I hope you enjoyed it! there’s another creator (Nicole Rafiee) who made a video about this topic before me and it was brought to my attention that we bring up a lot of the exact same talking points. this was absolutely not intentional and I never saw her video, but i watched it and she brings up some interesting points that i don’t mention and she did a good job covering the topic! so I just wanna link it since she did it before me lol & it’s interesting, go watch hers too!

when i was younger, main character moments were always listening to music and wistfully looking out the car window. when the hell did it become acting like public spaces are tiktok sets?

the trend of filming people in public and posting it on line genuinely scares me so much

My dad died 10 years ago. I has the “ at least you have a dad” kind of gal for a bit. 10 years later I love seeing people have healthy relationships with their parents. Super cringe to throw the dead parent card around IMO.

I think being the main character SHOULD be about romanticising your life and your experiences. NOT thinking the world revolves around you.

the "i don't like coffee" skit is supposed to be a joke but gets funnier knowing working any cafe or food service job means youve 100% had that exact interaction happen to you word for word 😭

it's genuinely one of my worst fears that i will be filmed in public without my knowlege.

5:16 As a former barista, I can confirm that this is not an uncommon occurrence... I was spit on once because we didn't have individual creamers because she needed a specific amount of cream that could only be measured by those little creamer cups you get at the gas station or else she would have a dairy reaction and shit herself. After I gave her a sample cup of half and half, she looked at me and said, "What? Am I supposed to do this myself?!" and I told her that if she needed a specific amount then she can pour in as much as she likes and I would dispose of the rest she didn't use. Then she spit at me. After my manager came out to tell her to get out -- she started crying and said that her dog died that morning and how I should be punished for being so rude to her while she was grieving! The entitlement these people exude is crazy.

The responses to the lady tweeting about her happy marriage seems to indicate one should NEVER be grateful EVER. don’t you DARE acknowledge your happiness and gratitude for the life you live!

I know a person who has this main character syndrome. One time I said “no” to them and they claimed it was passive aggressiveness 💀

Being the protagonist of your own story is one thing and narcissism is another

The fact that this “what about me’ism” is so common that I don’t even recognise it half the time is actually kind of scary..

A woman made a tiktok showing her beautiful bathroom and bathtub. And some people were really like “it’s beautiful but it’s not disabled-friendly, I wouldn’t be able to get in”, as if it was a *public bathroom* 💀

i think it's even weird to post strangers with them as the focal point even if there's no malicious intent. even if ur like "omgg this person's so cute" it's still weird to post this person's face/identity if u didn't ask them beforehand

Fun fact: in brazilian Twitter, a girl posted a picture of ice cream that her dad had brought her to made her happy. The Ice Cream was kind of fancy. Then people proceed to problematized both her having a loving father while fathers leaving their children is a big problem in the country and the fact that she was taking expensive Ice Cream while so many people are poor. Yeah I'm serious. That's happened

“Did you consider the fact I have paper skin and glass bones and wake up every morning in agony that the devil himself pity’s me”
Lmao 💀

being the main character should be like, dressing cute and doing things you enjoy, not pretending you're the only person to exist 😭 like even as someone who struggles with empathy i cannot understand that

Imagine sending death threats to a complete stranger you've seen once online because she made face expression you didn't like?!?!?? Is this for real

I think the "theyre just getting what they deserve for being mean" is the stupidest argument ever because whats meaner? looking at someone or DOXXING THEM AND THREATENING THEIR FAMILY? like how in any world is that a fair punishment?
