Are you getting the most performance from your OS if you opt for the basic version of Windows 10?

Please, everyone knows that the real performance boost comes from using red LEDs instead of blue ones.

I'm running Windows Server 2016 because it's free on Microsoft Imagine. Best part of WS2016? No Cortana, no Windows Store, no random automatic updates and all the privacy settings are disabled by default.

It's weird, but it seems in the software world, the less you pay for something, in general the better it works.

Hello! You forgot to tune base settings before benchmarks.
Like app priority which is by default forgeround for 10 and background for server.

Linus hey I wanted to address the lowered benchmarks in Windows server settings. In Windows server the application priority is set to background services. Therefore your benchmark doesn't get priority when doing anything that's foreground. The server set up so that it can manage the network and clients in the background, especially for AD DC, DNS and DHCP calls. So you might try re-running the benchmark in a different video with the applications process priority set to foreground applications instead of background and system services.

Maybe performing actual server tasks on a server operating system will be a performance revelation.
