I went with a 7900XTX from a 3090. Massive performance gain. Card cost me £950, barely more than i sold the 3090 for. I never use RT or DLSS so couldnt care less about those "features" for another £700.

Energy efficient? Nah. As an AMD fan, I'm gonna say that AMD has messed up with the power consumption this gen.

Edit: It has a bug and it was a driver issue. Things are getting fixed.

Fun fact: the 7900 XTX still has the RT performance of a 3090 Ti, so basically a 4070 Ti 12GB in RT

Ray tracing is the dumbest shit of all time. Yeah lets make your $1, 600 RTX4090 perform the same as a $250 1080 Ti from 5 years so you can get shadows and reflections that you will never notice in normal gameplay

IMO ray tracing performance really shouldn't factor into your decision in a major way. Current offerings from either company will be obsolete by the time ray tracing becomes mainstream, so rasterization performance is still the most important thing to consider at the moment. Well, that, and perhaps intelligence-based software features. The 4090 is _way_ ahead of everything else, but it's $1600. Taking that out of the equation, the 7900 XTX isn't a bad choice, especially when you can find it on sale for $900-950.

Absolutely brilliant at 4k most games at medium high settings still hit 69 to 80fps heck even Destiny 2 at 4k hits 113fps This card blows my mind!

Went 7900xtx for $900 on prime day. Then got the bundled $100 version of Starfield as well. So all in all a good deal.

RT just isn't important at all. I went from green to red this time round and my god I'm glad I did. Adrenaline is fantastic the performance is amazing I'm well happy

You can't get a 7900xtx at msrp but I got my 4080 for 1079 at best buy with a coupon also it doesn't overheat

The ability of the higher end 7000 series cards to provide that level of RT is still impressive considering the capabilities of the last two generations. They could potentially catch up to NVIDIA, but of course NVIDIA knows this, which is why they are pushing out unique features (That AMD will eventually copy)

And remember, if you but GPU for 3D stuff, always NVIDIA. Outside gaming there is reason why Nvidia is so expensive while AMD is more affordable, but works so good onty in gaming.
