I went from over 100 strong IPA's a week for the past 10 years to zero overnight. Sleeping was very difficult at first. A couple headaches (wasn't drinking enough fluids), mood swings, and anxiety for the first week. I'm 14 days in and was very surprised that it went as well as it did. I am sleeping better than ever, eating healthier more often, and keeping busy with tasks around the house I would normally put off. Still have some mood swings, but they are getting less intense by the day. Hope everybody out there is doing well with their journey. One day at a time!

I like one specific drink, bubbly champagne. I can drink almost 2 bottles each night. I wake up so lethargic and foggy headed. Not liking it anymore, I actually look at the glass of it & ask myself, why? Why do I waste my $ & life away? Yesterday 8/2/23 I decided I don’t want it anymore. I didn’t drink last night & I slept pretty good, just restless at first. Today I don’t want it again, if it’s not in my house, I won’t drink anything else. I am determined to stop this useless cycle of drinking, I am 63 & want to enjoy the rest of my life! I am relying heavily on God, His power is stronger than mine & I am begging him to help me not crave the wine. I want to get to the point when I don’t think about it & I will be happier. I feel positive about this & I hope all who read this will succeed in their journey to sobriety 🎉🎉

It makes me feel really good to know that I'm not alone in this. I'm "only" at 21-23 drinks a week but that's still too many. I'm one day sober and looking forward to the next day and the next day and the next day!

I go on these crazy binges where i basically just dissapear for days. I dont even remember what happened in all those days. And on the final days when i try to put the brakes on it thats when i get panic attacks among other things. Hard to as sleep as well cause all i hear are voices that keep me awake

My story: I was a binge drinker for 50 years. How did I stop drinking so easily? I skipped the counseling and anonymous platitudes. I went to my doctor. He gave me a choice of two remedies. The monthly injection of Vivitrol or the daily 50mg tablet of naltrexone. I took the tablets for 30 days to detox and almost immediately lost the cravings for beer. Losing the cravings was as easy as taking Motrin for muscle aches. Mark me safe from alcohol

Every time I detox off of a binge, I just taper down every day with beer or wine until I'm not anxious or moody anymore. I usually start off with 3 beers the first day, 2 the second and 1 in the third day and then I just go about eating good and getting some exercise.

I'm a long time recovering alcoholic who's been to Hazelton and attended countless AA meetings over years (I'm almost 71). Even with all this exposure, I thought I was an "expert", but still did not know that a hangover was a withdrawal symtom! Live and learn, I guess.

This video is very accurate. Don’t mess around with alcohol withdrawal. If you are a heavy daily drinker and want to quit, don’t just quit suddenly. You should go to detox where they’ll give you benzos in controlled doses to prevent severe withdrawal symptoms. Once you’re past the withdrawal then there’s many options to help you stay sober. AA, rehab, etc. just be careful with how you decide to stop

Thanks. I drank 1-2 drinks for 10 days straight and I’m feeling stage 1 and 2. What I’m feeling now is grief (I recently lost family members), of which is more present than before I was drinking. I’m 48 hrs sober and I feel like a lost teenager trying to my best to win my family’s love and acceptance yet I’m in my 40’s and quite professionally accomplished and I don’t need to prove anything to anybody.

Drank a fifth of vodka a day when I was in my addiction the worst and that withdrawal was no joke ended up in ER then went to treatment that and AA. This saved my life so happy to be in recovery by the grace of GOD..

2 valium at a time, 4 times a day on day one. 2 valium 3 times a day day 2. 2 valium twice a day day 3. Then two valium taken seperately day 4. 900mls of whiskey or vodka for longer than I can remember. 6 hours between doses. As per medical outpatient detox.

I was borderline moderate / severe with mild hallucinations - visual and mainly auditory. These went a day later thank goodness but only with medical intervention for a night. That Librium saved my arse for sure.

It would be nice if most medical professionals understood a damn thing about alcohol withdrawal, but very few of them do.
