This this this! Once you cross 30 unless you're a pro athlete the most important goal, the base of all other performance goals has to be longevity. Can't work out when you're breaking down constantly

Had a patient, late 80s with pneumonia the other day. Guy looked great and we started talking working out (I was a personal trainer for over 30 years). Guy gets up and starts doing squats! “Exercise every day” he says. Cardio and calisthenics is his bag

I'm 55 been working on my health since my 30s..see a lot of guys my age broke down, tired, obese..I'm definitely not that 30 or 40 something guy anymore, but I feel like heading into my 60s 70s etc where the serious health issues usually happen, I am, lord willing, a little ahead of the game.

Great video Dane. I lost about 50 lb last year and it's amazing. 2022 was the best year of my life. I'm 64 and will turn 65 this year. I would like to put on just a little bit of muscle and take off just a little fat in 2023. Like you my health markers are incredibly better. So happy I did it

I'm turning 32 in a few weeks and I've been pretty hard on my body (professional touring drummer, I work a lot of nights, and push myself hard in the gym and life), and once I hit my 30s I realized how much more important it is to think long term and re-evaluate my goals. Wrinkles and gray hair also gave me a reality check.
Chasing PRs is a young person's game, and even then, chasing them is likely not worth it for most young people. Appeasing your ego is not worth soothing an injury, which I can attest to when I got two bulging discs in my university weight room. Ultimately, no one cares about your PR. It's all about how you feel, look, and consistency. I am in some of the best shape of my life at 32, and my drumming (which I also treat like an athletic endeavor) is at all a peak as well. The reality is longevity is most often the key to success. Life is mainly played in the long game and not the short, and being sustain performing and living at a high level over the long term is more vital than anything else.

Also, not sure if I'm the only one, but you almost look younger at 38 than at 27 so keep it up.

Great stuff mate 💪 Are you going to give us a look into the diet that you are following? I’m interested in seeing your sources of fermented food and fibre

Ever since age now only go to gym 4x a week and never more than 45min to an hour. Supersets, High Reps, Low Reps, but burn cardio and I like being lean. Without Cardio muscle is useless except for looks. Now 47 and thinking about 3 days a week full body each day.

@Garage Strength This was very helpful! I train Brazilian Jiu jitsu and am trying to stop a weight class by March. I’m a former shot putter as well, so I’m having to transform to a leaner form. However I had gastric bypass about a year and a half ago, so it presents a huge challenge when it comes to supporting my goals with proper diet and high protein levels. At any rate I’m hoping to utilize some of these tips and when I find a moment I will be binging your channel for more. Thanks!

I turn 40 this year and im shaped very similarly to your before picture. I really want to turn things around. Im bored as hell in the gym and loosing motivation. I really struggle to eat less because of a very physically demanding job. When i try to cut carbs i loose energy and get shaky and feel like crap.

Glad to hear you switched to prioritizing longevity! Your body is definitely thanking you for that. Recommend looking into adding broccoli sprouts into your diet for a source of sulforaphane.
